Brian December 03, 2012 for Model Number DE312 My maytag dryer is making a constant low-rumbling sound when it runs. What parts would I need to fix this? Thanks in advance.
1 Answer Brian, Once you remove the front panel and front bulkhead, Check the blower wheel Y303836, make sure it is "tight" on the motor shaft, there should be no "wiggle room". If the wheel is OK, remove the drum and check the rear rollers and shafts 12001541,WP6-3129480. Read More...
Ted November 28, 2012 for Model Number maytag m#sde3606ayw My dryer is making a loud intermittent squeaking noise. I've replaced the front drum bushings. What else could it be?
1 Answer Hello Ted, You need to check the drum rollers and the idler pulley. These and the front drum bushings are all there is in there that could produce the noise unless a bushing is failing in the motor assembly. Read More...
Linda November 25, 2012 for Model Number DE712 Dryer made a horrible thumping sound when I started it. I turned it off and took it apart. I think it is the rollers that support the drum--one turns freely and one is much tighter. Before I order parts, I want to know if my diagnosis seems right. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Linda. Yes, if the rollers are bad, they will make a thumping noise. You will need to replace both parts. Read More...

John October 20, 2012 for Model Number Maytag mdg6000aww The drier squeaks while operating. I think I need to replace the 2 sets of rollers. While it is apart, should I consider replacing anything else e.g belt or idler pulley?
1 Answer Hello John, there are numerous parts that would cause noise while the dryer is tumbling. Depending on what type of noise, it can be hard to tell without getting in there to see what is wrong. Things to check are the drum support rollers 12001541, the bearing glides 306508, and the drum seals WP33001807. There are usually two of each of these parts and it's recommended that you change both at the same time. Also, you should check the idler pulley WP6-3700340 and belt WP33002535. Hope this helps! Spankey September 13, 2012 for Model Number MDE7600AYW When I start the dryer all is fine, but it seems after a short time when the dryer gets hotter its starts squealing and won't stop but when it cools off its fine until the heat kicks back in. Could it be the rear support rollers?
1 Answer Hello Spankey, This can be caused by the drum rollers, (takes two 12001541), or the idler pulley WP6-3700340. Be sure if you replace the rollers to use a dry paper towel on the drum roller shafts to remove the softener residue. If there is a worn place on the shafts you can loosen the 1/2 inch mounting nut and turn the roller shaft 1/4 turn and re-tighten. This gives a fresh spot for the roller bushing to ride. Never lubricate a roller in a dryer with a wet lubricant. Lint will stick to the lubricant and be drawn into the bushing and cause the bushing to fail faster than it will with no lubrication. If you must lubricate, you can use baby powder or corn starch. Never use graphite because if it makes its' way into the load, it will stain the material. Read More...
