Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dishwasher Pump Filter (Part Number: OEM18049956)

Joyce, Since the dishwasher wont wash, and it won't drain, the issue may be elsewhere in the machine. The washer pump/motor 6-919922 and drain pump WP6-917641 are separate components and we wouldn't expect both to fail at the same time, even if they were clogged. You may want to check the electrical connections in the junction box in the front behind the lower access panel, then conduct the manual and automatic test modes listed in the tech data sheet in the envlope taped to the back of the kick plate. The tests will give you a better idea of where to start.

Hello John. Based on the information you provided, you will need to check the water level inside the unit and make sure it is filling up to the bottom of the heater assembly. If not, then the water valve W11082871 could be bad on the unit. If the water level is good, try cleaning the filters under the spray arms inside the unit with dishwasher magic TJ104. Hope this helps.

Mike for Model Number Amana ADB2200AWS

Glasses and cups in the upper rack had food particles inside after a wash cycle. I removed the filter but could not find a way to clean it. The replacement part diagram shows a single pump filter plate (part # AP4362441) and apparently no way to take it apart for cleaning. If there is not a way to clean the filter, how often should it be replaced? My dishwasher is 5 years old and the filter was completely clogged. Thanks for the information.

Mike, You normally don't need to clean or replace the filter flow plate, unless there is a heavy detergent or hard water deposit built up on the filter screens, at which point, you need to remove the lower spray arm, upper filter plate, pressure dome and impeller. It's a lot easier to make sure your water temperature is hot enough to disolve the detergent properly (120 dgrs in the bottom of the tub at the first fill of the cycle)You also want to run a citric acid based cleaner, such as "Glisten" WX10X10205 through the dishwasher, a couple of times a year, to reduce any debris or build up from the chemicals. Good Luck and Thanks

Hi Derek. Yes the pump filter, if torn will allow fod to collect on the plates. Remove the wash arms and clean the jets. Tere are no longer phosphates included in the detergents. Consider using a bit more soap or changing to Cascade Complete or Finish. Is the tub getting enough water? The pump filter is part # WPW10192799. Thank you.

Hello Mary. You will need to check and see if the unit is filling with water. If it is not, then make sure the float is not stuck. If the float is good, you will need to test and see if there is power going to the water valve. If there is power there and the unit is not filling up, you will need to replace the water valve W11082871. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Bill! What type of material is on the top racks? This could be caused by several different things. Make sure you are using the proper amount of soap and not overloading the dishwasher. Also make sure the proper amount of water is entering the machine. Hope this information helps you.

Hello Jesper. You will need to remove the nut holding the lower spray arm in place. Then remove the screws holding the guard in place. Next remove the screws holding the outlet in place. Then remove the screw on top of the impeller and remove the impeller. Then remove the screws holding the pump filter in place. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.
