For Whirlpool Whirlpool Everydrop Refrigerator Water Filter 3 (Part Number: OEM17950698)

William, When you change the water filter on the unit, you must run at least 3 gallons of water through the system to get all the air out of it. If you tried to use without purging the air out then it would continue to run until air starts coming out.

Bill, Remove the kickplate and the cap from the filter. Once removed, use a flat blade screwdriver or channel locks and get ahold of the filter. Push the button and pull out at the same time. This would be the only way to do this.

Carol for Model Number 253.52332200

Help!!! My Kenmore frig. quit making ice. I changed the water filter and purged air thru water dispenser. No ice and the filter kept/keeps ejecting itself (it stays in for a short time and then I hear a thump and it has ejected itself again). I checked the cogs of the ice maker and at a certain point the little one would just keep clicking and never move forward...So I replaced the ice maker today....no clicking, but no ice and the filter is still ejecting itself????? Why is it ejecting and what do I do now??

Hello Carol. The filter head 240396002 will need to be replaced on the unit. This could also cause the no ice issue on this model.

Hello Debbie. Yes, it sounds like the filter housing may have gotten damaged on the unit. You will need to check and see. As for the light not resetting, the board may need to be replaced to repair that issue.

Joe, We do not have any information on differences between these 2 filters and you will want to make sure that the filter is pushed in all the way and when initially pushing the dispenser lever there may be air in the lines that you will have to purge out.

Neil, The water filter cannot cause a foul taste in the water. It would be the water supply that would cause this same type of taste. You have replaced from different sources which would not have the exact same batch of filters. Also make sure that the filter is being pushed in all the way and that you purge the first 3 gallons of water. If you have the filter installed properly, when you purge the lines there will be air that comes through the lines that will then go back to a steady stream of water.

Malcolm, The model number listed is not showing as a valid model but if you need the cap for the push in filter then you would need part number WP2260518B. If you need the filter cap that goes on the twist in filter then you will need part number WP2186494B.

I have a Whirlpool Refrigerator that uses the 4396841 Pur water filter. I just replaced and followed instructions regarding purging the system. After cycling through 3 gallons of water, I filled a glass with water and heated it in the microwave for hot tea. The water in the glass is very cloudy as if it contains some foreign matter. I tried again after running more water through the filter with the same result. We have changed filters many times since we bought the refrigerator and have never had this problem. Any Thoughts? Charlie.....

Hello Charlie. Try running more water through the system. Sometimes it takes several gallons for the charcoal to filter out and the water be clear.
