Neil for Model Number ED5FHEXVB01 A few months ago I replaced our water filter in the refrigerator. The new filter produced lousy tasting water. Tasted mediciny.(sp). After a few weeks I bought another at Loews. Same lousy tasting water. I ordered filters from PARTSSTORE...same result. I have tried both types for our refrig....4396710 and supposedly the better one,.... 4396841. No better results. Is there a problem with these filters?.
Answer Neil, The water filter cannot cause a foul taste in the water. It would be the water supply that would cause this same type of taste. You have replaced from different sources which would not have the exact same batch of filters. Also make sure that the filter is being pushed in all the way and that you purge the first 3 gallons of water. If you have the filter installed properly, when you purge the lines there will be air that comes through the lines that will then go back to a steady stream of water. Read More...
