The Water Filter is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is designed to filter and purify the water for your refrigerator, ensuring clean and fresh drinking water and ice.

A bad refrigerator water filter can be caused by regular use and the buildup of contaminants over time. It may also become less effective if not replaced according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule.

Symptoms of a bad refrigerator water filter include:

  • A decrease in water flow or water pressure.
  • An unpleasant taste or odor in the water.
  • The presence of particles or sediment in the water.
  • Cloudy or discolored ice cubes.

If you notice any of these signs or if it has been more than six months since your last filter replacement, it's time to replace the refrigerator water filter with this genuine OEM part. This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM17950701)

Scott H for Model Number KBFA20ERSS01

This is the first time I think the filter has been replaced, as I have just bought this house. It looks like it was the old UKF8001AXX filter, which has been discontinued,. I have a 2 pack of the new UKF8001's and also the same issue as everyone else. The unit is making a knocking/jack hammering noise when using. The dispenser is also flowing very slowly. When it was fine before with the old filter. Guessing it is the same "fit" issue with the old filter head, but now using the new filter. What filter head is the right on for me to buy to match up with these $35 Ukf8001 filters I have now.

Scott, With the issue that you are having, the first thing that you will want to do is make sure that you turned the filter fully clockwise to make sure it is all the way in. If it is all the way in then you will need the water filter head part number WP67004106.

Dawn for Model Number GZ25FSRXYYO

We are having problems with our Whirlpool Stainless Steel refrigerator. First, when we use the water dispenser, it takes FOREVER to get a glass of water. Is there a way to adjust it so it will fill a glass much quicker? Second, where it dispenses the water, the red light is always on saying - change filter, even when we just installed a new filter. Could you please tell us what might be causing the problem? Also...We enjoy using the ice from the ice maker. It was working fine and then it just stopped making ice for no apparent reason. I've checked the ice holding dish and there's no ice in it at all - so nothing is stuck. Would you have an suggestion for that issue as well? It is a Whirlpool Model GZ25FSRXYYO Refrigerator. I would appreciate any suggestions you can provide. Thank you, and have a GREAT day!

Hello Dawn. There is no way of increasing the water from the dispenser. As for the red light, when you replace the filter, you need to press and hold the filter reset button on the dispenser to reset the light. Here is some information to help you repair the icemaker in the unit. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Babs. The only way to remove the filter from the filter head is by twisting it. Some of these can be tight and the filter head may unsnap from the unit. Just hold the head in one hand and twist the filter to remove it.

Mo, The easiest way to get the filter to turn in would be to remove the kickplate and turn the filter as it will give better access. If the filter will still not go in then it is either a damaged filter or the filter housing is bad.
