Winston September 25, 2015 for Model Number KUDA230YWH2 Kitchenaid dishwasher drips through float assembly. The float moves freely, and underneath the machine I could see the stem moving up and down, activating the switch. I removed the assembly, found a very small amount of material in and around the components. I cleaned it thoroughly and tested the switch with an ohmmeter. It showed 3.5 ohms in the float down position and infinite in the up position. After replacing everything (tightly), the leak is much greater. Float mechanism seems to be working. Should I replace the intake valve?
1 Answer Winston, It sounds like the unit may be overfilling in which the issue would most commonly be the float switch. It is possible that the water valve is not closing off all the way and causing the overfill issue. Also make sure that the unit is level as this could also cause the issue. Check the spray arms to make sure that they are not clogged or cracked causing a wave effect that would cause water to drip out. Read More...
Gino May 01, 2013 for Model Number KUDM01TJWH0 My dishwasher overflows. It starts to fill water, then water stops, but as soon as washing cycle starts and arm-sprays starts rotating - it will overflow from the bottom of the door. It drains fine though. I have checked the float cup, it moves freely and I can hear a click as i move it up and down. What could cause the overflowing and how do I fix it? Thanks!!!!
1 Answer Hello Gino. Check and see if the unit is overfilling. If so, and the float is good, you will need to order and replace the valve on the unit. If it is not overfilling, you will need to check and see if the door gasket is bad and needs to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Tony G January 01, 2013 for Model Number 66513163k703 My Washer at the end of a cycle it wil not drain down all the way. If I reset the cancel button it will drain down all the way could it be the float swtich or the control boad?
1 Answer Hello Tony, You will want to check your drain to make sure that there is nothing clogging the pump. Sounds like this may be the issue, also check the drain hose to make sure that it is not clogged. Read More...
Hal J September 06, 2012 for Model Number KUDT03FT My 5 year old dishwasher is leaking at Part AP3138166, the Float Switch. This only happens every 3 or 4 days and when the tub is full of water and in wash cycle. I'm guessing either the seal has failed or the switch is allowing too much water into the tub and its somehow overflowing thru the switch. Ive checked the float and it seems to move up and down freely. If it is the float switch, how hard is it to remove and replace? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Hal. It sounds like the unit is over filling and you will need to replace the water valve WPW10158389 on the unit. Read More...
Dave In Nj August 26, 2012 The pump seems like it's cavitating. It pumps then wooshes, and the top isnt spinning at all. When I add water manually it runs well. So when I jump out the door and watch it fill, it fills very slowly and not nearly enough. It doesn't even get to the float. I pulled the fill valve, and the strainer is clean. Are these the only two assemblies relating to filling? Should I replace both?
1 Answer Hello Dave. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Dale May 02, 2012 Hi, when my dishwasher starts to fill up it stops before it reaches the proper water level. By manually testing the float it seams to be working, is there a timer that also controls the water input ?
1 Answer Hello Dale. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve WP8531669 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Dalon H. December 23, 2011 for Model Number Sears Kenmore Elite Dishwasher My dishwasher was leaking at part number 8545880. When I removed the part I found that it was gummed up with food residue. I cleaned the part and the area around the opening for the part. I visually inspected the part and found no cracks in the part or tears in the rubber seal washer. I put the part back together in the dishwasher. There is a cap that sits on top of the tube inside the dishwasher with a long stem that goes through the part to activate the switch. When I took the cap off I had to pull and it made a popping sound when it came off. When I put it back on it now sits freely. Is the cap supposed to free float or should it click when it goes back on? I don't want water to run down the tube.
1 Answer Hi Dalon. There is a float switch part # 8193506. The float assy. is part # WPW10077871. If the float is not smooth on the stem, it will catch and not ride up and down easily. Thank You. Read More...
Toni August 13, 2011 for Model Number KUDS01FKSS0 The dishwasher overflows the water to the floor when is not in use. When I open the door, the water is filled passed the float cover top. I would assume there is a backflow/check valve in the dishwasher that is not working. Is the Float Switch Kit AP3138166 a backflow/check valve? What is your opinion?
1 Answer Hi Toni. The switch controls the voltage that turns on/off the water valve. When the door is closed and wash is pressed, then the float switch will have power untill it raises the float level to stop the water right at the bottom of the heating element. The drain hose has to be installed with a loop at the highest point under the sink. Then taught into the drain port. You might have the drain hose kinked holding the drain water back. At The out put of the drain pump there usually is a check valve. This part # is WP8268375. The Float switch is part # [AP3038166]. Thank you. Read More...
