For Whirlpool Grid - Cutter (Part Number: OEM8709498)

Ira, it would be recommended that the cutter grid WP2313637 is tested for resistance and it should measure 20 Ohms. If it does not measure the proper resistance, it will not cut the ice properly. If it tests good, then the failure would be in the transformer WP2310139 if there is not a corroded wire.

Jeff, the grid cutter W10919199 should measure a resistance of 5O and it receives a voltage of 9.4VAC from the transformer WPW10485951. The cutter grid is only going to get warm enough to cut through the ice so that the cubes drop through before the next ice slab is ready to harvest.

Terry, Unfortunately we do not have a timing chart on this unit but the unit will fill first, then pump water across the evaporator, then it will drop the ice to the heater and cut it.

Joel, Sorry, but No, you shouldn't " use it in a regular electric outlet directly" The grid cutter wiring is designed to operate on eight(8) volts AC, and has 4 to 5 ohms resistance, so maximum voltage would be an additional 10 %, making the voltage range 7 to 9 VAC. Applying 120 VAC to the grid would cause premature failure of the part. Sorry.

Hello Joe. You will need to check the transformer and see if it is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Clay, The model number that is listed is not coming up as being valid. With most of the icemachines the voltage to the cutter grid would be between 12 and 24 vdc. 10.5 would be low and would most likely be caused by a faulty transformer.
