Ira June 02, 2021 for Model Number KitchenAid KUIC15NLXS 0 Cutter Grid not cutting ice - have 8.5 volts AC at plug. What should this voltage be? Cutter Grid appears to be in working order.
1 Answer Ira, it would be recommended that the cutter grid WP2313637 is tested for resistance and it should measure 20 Ohms. If it does not measure the proper resistance, it will not cut the ice properly. If it tests good, then the failure would be in the transformer WP2310139 if there is not a corroded wire. Read More...
Jeff November 16, 2020 for Model Number Kuid308hps How hot does the wire get to cut the ice? Should be able to touch it? How long does the ice take to cut? I have replaced the wire and the ice sheet drops down and it slowest cuts and drops. It was much faster before replacement
1 Answer Jeff, the grid cutter W10919199 should measure a resistance of 5O and it receives a voltage of 9.4VAC from the transformer WPW10485951. The cutter grid is only going to get warm enough to cut through the ice so that the cubes drop through before the next ice slab is ready to harvest. Read More...
Jeff L. November 13, 2020 for Model Number KUID308HPS My grid wire broke and I need a new one, I’m wondering what is the metal used? Aluminum? Gauge 22? I want to buy a spool or at least 100’ feet in case it happens again.
1 Answer Hello Jeff, I'm sorry but this part W10919199 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...

Terry September 11, 2018 for Model Number whirlpool ice maker eac51-1 what the run sequence from start to finsh? thru a full cycle, what comes on first and so on and so on until the grid cuts the ice
1 Answer Terry, Unfortunately we do not have a timing chart on this unit but the unit will fill first, then pump water across the evaporator, then it will drop the ice to the heater and cut it. Read More...
Joel V. January 23, 2016 HI , What is the maximum voltage that whirlpool-grid-cutter-2174861-AP2903163. Can I use it in a regular electric outlet directly? Thanks
1 Answer Joel, Sorry, but No, you shouldn't " use it in a regular electric outlet directly" The grid cutter wiring is designed to operate on eight(8) volts AC, and has 4 to 5 ohms resistance, so maximum voltage would be an additional 10 %, making the voltage range 7 to 9 VAC. Applying 120 VAC to the grid would cause premature failure of the part. Sorry. Read More...
Joe December 28, 2015 for Model Number e65100xp My machine will make a sheet of ice but the wire is not cutting. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Joe. You will need to check the transformer and see if it is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Andres November 17, 2015 for Model Number ex5100xs The cutting grid has 10,5 volts according to the schemetic, transformer is 115/8.5 volts. The wire grids feel warm but do not cut all the way thru. ice starts to build up
1 Answer Hello Andres. If the voltage is there, you will need to order and replace the cutter on the unit. Read More...
Clay October 21, 2014 for Model Number 198.8887482 I have a m# 198.8887482 ice maker. the cutter grid isn`t heating. I have 10.5 volts at the plug. when I connect the plug the grid will not heat. I have cleaned all connections on grid and ohmed grid. I'm not sure where to go from here. I have even tried a different grid.
1 Answer Clay, The model number that is listed is not coming up as being valid. With most of the icemachines the voltage to the cutter grid would be between 12 and 24 vdc. 10.5 would be low and would most likely be caused by a faulty transformer. Read More...
