Tim B for Model Number MEDE200XW1

I am having issues with no heat. i have check all the parts including the heater coil. i have replaced the fuse and the highlimit and other sensor on the heater coil housing just in case i was getting a false reading. Still no heat, every tech tells me that it is probably the board then, however when i take it out and look for a hot spot on the board it looks new with no signs of burning of the element relay. I found the tech book and checked the error codes and it said the moisture sensor is open. I was told that the moisture sensors never go out and that it is probably the sensor wiring. My question is will a faulty sensor wiring with the diodes not allow the heater elements to come on? I assume the moisture level sensor does control the heater element since it turns tells the dryer to turn off. I don't just want to throw money at the problem.

Tim B, The sensor wiring would be the most likely cause for the sensor to read open. This could cause the unit to not heat when on the sensor dry but should still heat on the time dry. There is another way that you could test the unit to see where power is being lost. There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the PCB. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multi-meter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the timer side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad.

Hello Richie. Measure the resistance across the outermost contacts of the cable that includes the two red MOVs. ? If a small resistance is measured, check for debris across moisture strips inside of the drum; clean if debris is present. If debris is not present, replace sensor harness. ? If a small resistance is not measured, continue with step 8. 8. Measure the resistance across each of the outermost contacts and the center terminal (ground connection). ? If a resistance less than infinity is measured, replace the sensor harness.

My Kenmore He5 Electric Dryer Moisture sensor cable gets stuck on damp and 7 minutes even though the clothes are dry on a full load. I have run diagnostics and the moisture bars beep with my finger shorting them. The control board is brand new. The moisture bars have been scrubbed with sand paper and cleaned with alcohol. The only thing is my moisture sensor wire harness 3406653 does not have the extra MOV capacitors on the wire harness. Should I replace the wire harness for one with the updated design to fix the problem of the moisture sensor not sensing dry? What do the MOV capacitors do for the moisture sensing?

Lawrence, With the moisture sensor beeping when you did the diagnostic test then you need to check the outlet thermistor for resistance of 10 K ohms at room temp. This would be the most likely cause for the unit to stop at 7 minutes remaining and not progress any further.

I have a Kenmore elite HE3 that won't get clothes dry. I watched it run and here's what's happening: igniter goes on and gas valve opens; flames come on and the dryer starts heating. After about ten seconds the flame goes out. It will come back on again after a while, but then only goes on for ten seconds again. The dryer runs with the flames mostly off, so no real drying happening. The lint path is clear, no clogs. I already replaced the gas valve solenoids and the thermistor. The flame sensor and high limit thermostat check out OK on the ohmmeter. What's left? The dryer behaves like this on either moisture-sensed or timed dry cycles so I'm guessing it's not the moisture sensor or anything in that feedback loop? Are we down to the mother board/brain/circuit board? Thanks in advance for your help. Gregg

Hello Gregg. It sounds like the gas valve may be failing on the unit and will need to be replaced. If the gas stops, the gas valve will need to be replaced.

Hello Vito. You will need to disconnect the power and remove the front panel to access and replace the harness on the unit. There is locking tabs on the harness that you will need to release to unplug it from the main harness. Then you will pull the spades off the sensor bar terminals. Install new harness in reverse order.

A week ago, our dryer began making a loud, obnoxious squealing noise during operation. By researching online, I determined that the drum rollers should be replaced. I ordered a repair kit (belt, pulley, and drum rollers), and replaced all parts in the kit. After reassembling the dryer, I discovered that while the unit will power on, it will not start. When pressing the "start" button, the unit gives 3 quick beeps and does nothing. After putting the unit into diagnostic mode, it provided an error code of F29 (Moisture Sensor). I removed and cleaned both moisture sensor bars, and reinstalled them. The unit still will not run, and still gives error code F29. I have ordered a new moisture sensor wire harness. Do you think this will fix the error code? If I install the new wire harness, and the error code persists, what should I do? There was no error code before I disassembled the unit to replace the belt and drum rollers. Thanks!

Hello Tim. Check the harness and make sure you didn't unplug it or damage the harness. If the harness is good, then the board would be the issue. It sounds like it may had a bad connection or unplugged.
