Hollie August 06, 2013 for Model Number GEW9200LW1 I've changed the heat element and can't remember how to connect the wires. I have one red wire, one red and white wire , and one black one. Can you help?
1 Answer Hollie, The black wire will go in between the thermal cutoff and the high limit thermostat. The R/W wire will go from the high limit thermostat to one side of the heater and the red wire will go to the other side of the heater. Read More...
Jenny K. June 03, 2013 for Model Number LEN2000PW1 I have reviewed your tutorials on repairing the heating element and the thermostat, as I compared the connections I noticed that my dryer is missing one of the wires connecting at the bottom side of the thermostat on the back side, the front connection and the one above the thermostat were in place. The wire is Completly missing, I cannot find where it has ever been there at all... I have read & watched nearly all the information you provide and it seems it's a necessary component, however mine appears as thou it never had one. Is this a problem? Can I proceed with repairing the dryer without it? Or will I need to find a way to install the missing wire? Thank you for your help, Jen
Rich June 01, 2013 for Model Number LEQ9508PW0 Whirlpool Dryer I replaced the heating element because a coil was broken. When I turned the dryer on, it was working for a few minutes with hot air. Then the hot air stopped but the dryer continued to blow cold air. I order a new thermostat but when I went to install it, the dryer only has two wires versus three. I know one wire goes to the Heating element input, but I am not sure where to install the other on.
1 Answer Rich, Presumably you replaced the hi limit thermostat WP3977767 in which case the extended "tab" on the new thermostat attaches to one of the element terminals, the red wire from the motor attaches to the other element terminal and the remaining red wire will attach to the terminal on the new thermostat Read More...
Bem June 04, 2012 for Model Number 110.96585210 I have an old Kenmore dryer - model # 110.96585210. It runs, but no longer heats up. I've been troubleshooing online, and took the back panel off. One obvious problem is one large red wire the leads to the heating element is fried and broken. I think that is part # 279457. There are 2 red wires, one connects to the timer, and I believe that is our wire that has fried. My question is, if I replace that wire, do you think that's the end of my problem or could the heating element and/or timer be part of the problem too?
1 Answer Hello Bem. The wire is the issue for sure. Just test the heater and make sure it reads closed for continuity. If so, you will need to replace the heater assembly as well. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Tara A. April 06, 2012 for Model Number GEW9200LW0 My heater element has 2 red wire connectors 1 of which has burned off. How do I know where the other end connects to? It runs under the exhaust barrel and it appears that it goes into a series of harnesses . I'm not sure if part #AP3134638 is what I need. Please inform. Thank you.
1 Answer Hi Tara. Yes, if the wire harness has a round clip that can be removed in order to access the complete wire harness. When the vent system is kinked or clogged or if the outside vent hood cap id not allowing the vent door to open and close on its own, it will allow the heating element to overheat, (expand) and eventually short out. Or if the connection is loose, it will burn terminals. Wire kit part # 279457. Element part # WP3387747. Thank You. Read More...
Jim W January 18, 2012 for Model Number whirlpool ler3624jq1 the wire at the heating element had burned off at the slip on connector (the larger slip on) not the wires coming from the thermal sensor and thermal fuse. will the Element Connecting Wire (Part Number: AP3134638) work to repair this?
1 Answer Jim, Yes the connecting wire should work, if I understand your question properly. You may want to order two(2) to be safe, and make sure all the connections are proper and tightt. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Lue Biz December 28, 2011 for Model Number 110.60952990 The heating element, has high limit temperature on the side, cycling thermostat, and cut-off thermostat, etc. I want to know where all these wires are connected to correctly. Can you send me the heating element schematic diagram ? Identifying where these wires are connected.
1 Answer Hello Lue. No, there is no diagram, but the large terminal on the wiring harness goes to the heater, then you will have 2 jumpers. The jumper 279457 with the large terminal goes from the heater to the thermostat, and then the other jumper goes from the thermostat to the high limit. Then the wire at the top of the wiring harness goes to the other end of the high limit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Lue Biz December 28, 2011 for Model Number 110.60952990 How do I match the correct wiring hook-ups to the heating element ? I took out the heating element about two weeks ago. I now wants to put it back, and not so sure of the wiring connections on this unit/heater element.
1 Answer Hello Lue. The element WP3387747 only has two wires, and they can not be reversed. This is a closed circuit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Steve December 01, 2011 for Model Number ler3624jqo How do you check for 240v? do you need to connect your meter on two wires for positive (black/red)and ground it?... not sure..I get 120v but not sure about 240v

Marvin S. October 26, 2011 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 Dryer just stopped working. No problems before. Could it be the heating element?
1 Answer Hello Marvin. You will need to check the door switch WP3406107 and the thermal fuse WP3392519. They should read closed for continuity. Make sure the door is closed when testing the door switch. If one of these are bad, the dryer does not work. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
