Kenmoreelite August 23, 2011 for Model Number 66517514201 I have the Kenmore Elite 66517514201 Stainless tub. It stopped heating a year ago and I have not used it since. It runs for up to 3 hours but does not stay hot and dishes come out very dirty. The whole thing also smells due to the food not washing out. How do I tell what is the cause of the problem? Heating Element? Thermal Sensor? Circuit board? Looking at WHIRLPOOL Heating Element Kit (Part Number: AP3841139). Is this all I will need?
1 Answer Hello Kenmoreelite. You can test the heater 8194200 and the thermostat WP661566. They should read closed for continuity. If the thermostat is good, replace the heater kit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Jeffmike500 August 02, 2011 for Model Number KUDM01TJWH0 I am going to replace the element and board on my dishwasher, would the controls still be operating if the thermal fuse is blown. I would rather not disassemble until I have the parts on hand. If I have to I will remove the door panel and test the fuse. The unit still operates currently but the element has started to split and shows signs of burning through.
1 Answer Hello Jeffmike500. No, if the fuse 8193762 was blown, the unit would not come on. However, if the thermostat WP661566 is bad, the unit will come on and run, but will not heat. It should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

1 Answer Hello Wyatt. Please turn off circuit breaker to the unit. Then loosen the 2 heating element plastic nuts and lift each end of element up through the top side of the tub. Unhook the remainder of the element from the front tub holding clips. Using new element nuts part#WPW10477552. If your tub is stainless steel then order element kit part #8194200. For plastic tubs use part #W10518394. Remove the 6 screws holding the Electronic Control panel, tilting the panel forward and upward at the same time. Then unclip the fuse holder from the control board, reinstalling the new fuse with the existing fuse plastic cover shield. Then you observe all the wiring tab placements on the control board and reinstall wiring correctly the same, observing any newer instructions which may have been sent with the element kit which comes with the new control board.
