Hello Jim, You will normally use the original icemaker harness since there are so many configurations. The manufacturer will normally only include one or two possible configurations so the original on in the unit now should be used. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Matt for Model Number GZ25FSRXYY6

My ice maker will not make ice. I have replaced the main control board, then the thermostat in the old ice maker, a new water filter, and now a new ice maker and wire harness. The freezer is between 0-10 degrees, I can call for water and get it, and can hear the ice maker turn if I ask for ice but it's not producing ice. I don't think it's the dispenser control board and if I'm receiving water I don't think my valve is busted. I'm not sure what my next step is to solve this issue would be. Also, the ice maker I bought was, AP6037857 (W10882923), but it doesn't match the one I pulled out. The one I pulled out has a large black box on the front, I want to confirm these are compatible.

Matt, For this issue the water valve would be the most likely cause because the there is a valve for the dispenser and a solenoid for the icemaker. The dispenser will still work but the icemaker may not.

Gary, Make sure the rear of the metal bracket is snapped into place good. It will pop when it locks in. If you can easily pull out the rear it is not inserted all the way. This will cause the arm to bind.

Harry for Model Number GZ25FSRXYY2

Hello, I have a whirlpool GZ25FSRXYY2. The ice maker stopped making ice a few weeks ago. I'm not sure of the cause, I do know that it is not filling with water. I tested the dual water valve by applying 120vac to ice maker solenoid and it came on and filled the ice maker. Next I checked the temps - the freezer is on the bottom and the ice maker is inside of the fridge on the top left side. The freezer temp is about 7F degrees. The ice bin is about 25F degrees. Knowing this much, is there any directions that you can point me in? Thanks

Harry, Put the unit into a service mode from the data I emailed you and perform test 36,3716,17,1, and 2. Listen for the fan in the icebox when testing 36.

Hello Sam, The first thing to check is the freezer temperature. It will have to be from 0°F to 10 °F for the icemaker to cycle properly. If the temperature is sufficient, you should see if the icemaker has stopped full of water or empty. If full, the icemaker will need to be replaced. If empty, the water valve is the most likely cause. If you would like to check to make sure the icemaker is getting power, this will be checked on the icemaker with a voltmeter. You should read 120Vac from "L" to "N". These test points are under the front cover of the icemaker and plainly marked.

Tom, The low or no ice production could be due to a faulty fill valve WPW10420083 / W10420083. On a "dual" fill valve, it is possible for one solenoid to restrict or fail and not supply the water to the ice maker or dispenser, so you may want to start there. You will need to isolate the noise from the "ice maker area", once you raise and lock the bail arm into the up position, power to the ice maker is eliminated and the ice maker is inoperative, it shouldn't make any noise at all, unless there's a failure in the control module assembly ? in which case the W10884390 / W10469286 Ice Maker would need to be replaced.

Janet, the sensors on the icemaker are there to regulated the amount of ice that is in the ice bucket. If the sensors are not working properly, the icemaker will not go into a harvest mode. Basically, the icemaker thanks the bucket is full and does not need to make ice.

Paul, you will need to pull the icemaker out and double check the shutoff arm, there is a specific hole that the arm goes into on the blue part of the fill cup, it may be out of position.

Brian for Model Number GI6FDRXXY09

Hello, I just received a new AP6037857 ice make assembly. I looked at the 2 wire harnesses provided and saw that W10404016 has the same configuration to match the motor on the ice maker, the new ice maker has a different plug that does not accept the old harness connector. Harness W10312697 was also sent with the assembly, the connector for the motor matches but there is an extra white wire with a post connector, a purple wire, and a dual grey/black. I did not receive any diagrams and the instruction sheet on line is not legible. Any help would be appreciated.

1 Answer

Brian, If you could resubmit your question with a email address in the email address section when filling out the question we could send a legible copy of the instruction sheet for the icemaker. This kit is designed for both the 22 cubic foot and 25 cubic foot model units and will have a difference in the wiring of both.
