For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM18091938)

David for Model Number MFC2062DEM00

Maytag Refrigerator MFC2062DEM00; Ice Maker part # 10469286 not working (compatible with Whirlpool AP6030643). The ice maker was working fine until I left the freezer door ajar overnight; then shut it. Melted water collected in the freezer bottom then froze after the freezer got cold again. Freezer still works but - No ice. YouTube says to test the ice machine cycle by jumping port T (thermostat) to H (Heater) with freezer light off. The cycle did not start. I tested port L (Line) to N (Neutral) for AC current. There was none. There is no ice in the water supply hose for at least 7 inches. Why would the ice machine break under the described conditions? Since the cycle did not start and there is no AC detected, is it safe to assume the ice machine is broken and there is no other obvious reason for no ice (solenoid perhaps?)? Thanks for your assistance

David, it would be recommended that the wires going from the ice maker to the wall are tested for 120VAC from the black wire to the white wire on the end close to the wall. If there is voltage there when the door switch is pressed in, the failure is in the ice maker harness WPW10458985. If there is not voltage, the failure would likely be from the freezer door switch W11396033 failing or having a loose wire.

Mike, Normally when an ice maker is not making full-size cubes and not producing much ice then this would be either the temperature in the freezer is not quite cold enough. It should be between 0 and 5 degrees. Check to make sure that there is not low water pressure and make sure that the fill tube is not freezing over. If all this checks ok then the icemaker would be the issue.

Hello Thomas, yes, the bail arm connects to the backside of the module assembly, the icemaker is set by the manufacturer to be about 3/4 through the cycle so that once connected and powered it will finish the cycle and power the water valve so yes the bail arm will not be in the full down position. Lastly, on your model the ice maker is only powered through the freezer door light /interlock switch, the switch has to be held in or door closed to power the ice maker.

Jeff, If the icemaker is not shutting off without putting the arm up then this would be an issue in the icemaker itself.

Shopteacher, This ice maker does not have a water level adjustment screw. The ice maker is filled off of a timed fill .

Hello Edwin, check the freezer temperature is 0-5 deg, the ice maker wiring connections are secure, the door is closing the light switch fully, there should be ice in the ice maker's mold, if its dry there is a water fill problem.

Hello Larry, the water valve is opened electrically by the ice maker during a harvest/fill cycle. Normally not necessary to shut off the water for icemaker repairs.
