Hello Melisa. Yes, the strike goes into the latch and locks the unit. If it is opening, it could be un-level or have a bad latch or strike.

Brennan, The wiring of the door switch would be 2 black on one switch and 2 white on the other. If the switches are not connected properly it will cause the unit to not run.

The normal wash & heat dry light up and start button blinks slowly. Other wash cycle selections wont respond or light up. I can get it to start if I close door but it wont let me press start and then close door(3 sec delay doesnt work). when it did start it seemed to stay in wash then drain then wash cycle forever. heating element does work. If I activate door latch switch with screwdriver I can get start to light up solid. I recently (1 month ago?) replaced keypad.

Andrew, With the start button flashing you will want to check to make sure that the door switch is good and making good contact. If this checks ok then you will need to replace the membrane switch.

Brian, It does sound like it could be the latch or the control board but to determine this you will need to check the latch when in the locked position. You will check the continuity of the switches on the latch and if there is no continuity then the latch assembly is bad and would need to replace the latch.

David M. for Model Number MDPH979AWW3

You have recommended latch assembly for this AP5306177 for this unit. The dishwasher will not start (no response when I push the start button on the control panel. It looks like the plastic piece keeps popping out of place blocking the switch part from being fully depressed. But when I manually depress the switch and push the start button it still does not light up. Could it be that I need a complete touch panel assembly and latch assembly? Also, what is your return policy/

1 Answer
