Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Oven Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM12028377)

Hello Sheryl, The oven temperature sensor should read about 1100 ohms at about 70°F. There will be slight variations but this reading should be within about 10% tolerance. If this reading is way off, the sensor should be replaced. If a wire looks like it has been hot, is discolored, or the insulative material contacting it is malformed, this are an indications of a poor contact. This could also be an issue with the gas valve or the bake WP7432P136-60 or broil 74007498 ignitors.

Hello Harold. The F3 is Controller not receiving data from temperature sensor. And the F5 is No control output. This means the clock 12001620 is bad. The clock has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.

Rob, With the oven bake not lighting you will want to check the igniter to make sure that it is glowing. If it is not then test to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the igniter. Test for 3.2-3.6 vac at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Linda, If there is enough slack in the wiring for the sensor connector to be pulled through the rear wall of the unit and the new connector is pushed all the way through both steel panels, it can be done from inside the bake compartment. If the connector comes loose, the unit will have to be pulled from the installation and the rear panel removed to access the wiring.
