Patricia November 28, 2014 The pilot light is lit, but the oven will not heat up when set on temperature ( the oven is a magic chef in wall gas model).
1 Answer Patricia, We would need to have the model number to be able to assist properly but most likely the thermal couple is what is causing the unit to not heat. Read More...
Mitzi November 23, 2014 for Model Number jgs8750adw Oven takes a very long time to preheat, doesn't hold temperature and can smell gas can't hear oven kick on
1 Answer Mitzi, The first check needs to be at the bake burner igniter 74007498. A weak igniter can cause all the symptoms as you described. A properly operating igniter will usually glow "white hot" in 60 seconds and draws 3.2 to 3.6 amps which is required to open the safety valve. An igniter that glows orange or red produces approximately 2.8 to 3.0 amps and cannot open the valve properly, if at all. Read More...
Yakov September 16, 2014 for Model Number CWG3100AAB In approximately 1/2 hour of being turn on continuous beeping sounds and on display appears F2 or F3 or F4. The oven stays on. What is the problem?
1 Answer Hello Roy. The sensor should read around 1100 ohms at room temp. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Chicweed March 21, 2014 for Model Number 34ma5tkvw Magic Chef Trying to take an ohm reading on the temp sensor.Temp is inaccurate. The sensor is installed from the inside of oven . I remove screws, little movent .Wires go into back panel.Do i need to go in back of unit ,to remove a cover to remove sensor??? Thanks chicweed
1 Answer Chicweed, Yes in order to remove the sensor you would need to access the back of the unit in order to disconnect the harness leading to the sensor. Read More...
Rocky W November 11, 2013 for Model Number mgr5755bdw It takes 25 minutes for my oven to preheat and after 30 minutes the internal temp of any thing is only about 155 degrees. Whill it is preheating the flame will go on and off.
1 Answer Hello Rocky. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Joe September 27, 2013 for Model Number mgr5751bdw Oven ignites with good flame for a few seconds then goes out and comes back on with small flame.
1 Answer Hello Joe. That sounds like a pressure regulator or gas valve issue, if the flame is to small to heat properly. Read More...
Danh September 26, 2013 for Model Number SF195LEKT1- Whirlpool Have a whirlpool Imperial Series 465 that's not heating up to desired temp. checked temp. sensor and got 880 ohms @ about 70 degree room temp. I'm seeing the reading should be around 1080 ohms . Is this sensor going bad or could there be another problem ?
1 Answer Hello Danh. The sensor is bad and will need to be replaced based on the test you did. Read More...
Ron K March 08, 2013 for Model Number Maytag CRG9800AAE Oven Op Panel shows correct temp, but actual temp is much lower. Checked resistance on temp sensor, it was 1107 ohms at ~70 degrees. It appears correct. What else could be wrong? Ron
1 Answer Ron, The oven sensor should be at 1090 ohms plus or minus 10 percent at 77 degrees. If the sensor is checking ok then you would want to check the wiring from the sensor to the control. If wiring checks ok then you will want to check the elements to ensure that they are getting proper power and check to make sure that neither of the elements are bad. Read More...
Bflynn27 March 08, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool super capacity 465 My pilot light is on in the oven but the oven will not come on. What part to I probably need.
1 Answer BF, Under the circumstances, You most likely have a weak oven igniter 12400035, it's a bit hard to tell without a proper model number. The igniter can glow but not produce enough amperage to open the oven safety valve. You should be able to remove the oven bottom panel, turn on the oven and observe if the glow bar igniter glows "white hot" and produces the 3.2 to 3.6 amps needed to open the safety valve.
