Dee August 25, 2015 for Model Number MDB7851AWB1 The start button has stopped working on our Maytag Steamclean dishwasher (MBD7851AWB) that is about 6.5 years old. We tried cutting power and turning back on but it hasn't started to work again. I assume we need this new panel and touchpad -- agree? How hard is it for a novice to do this replacement myself? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Dee. Yes, you will need to replace the control panel on the unit. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit. Then remove the screws securing the inner door panel. Remove the inner door panel and remove the cover off the control board. Remove the ribbon cable from the control board and remove the screws holding the control board housing in place. Next remove the screws holding the control panel in place. Reinstall with the new control panel in reverse order. Read More...
Vijay May 17, 2014 for Model Number maytag mdbh980aws0 I have maytag mdbh980aws0. The start button doesn't start and the options 'heavy/normal/light' never goes for 'normal' only can select 'heavy or light' but start/stop button doesn't start the dishwasher. Does replacing control panel will resolve the issue? What is the part number for control panel? Does the installation instruction come with the part? Regards Vijay
1 Answer Vijay, This issue does sound like it would be caused by the control panel and the part number is WPW10235721. To replace you would remove the inner door panel and remove the components from the control panel and transfer to the new. Read More...
Shannon December 31, 2013 for Model Number MDB7851AWSO Based on the answers to questions from others I ordered and replaced the control panel (W10197307) because ours would only show a solid light on the start button then flash three times when pressed and return to solid. after changing the control panel the problem persisted. Where should I go next and will you take the control panel on return since it was not the problem?
1 Answer Hello Shannon. Check the door switches and make sure they are good on the unit. Bad door switches will prevent the unit from running. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Nick April 16, 2013 for Model Number MDB7851AWS Does the part below include the black latch handle that you actually press to open the door? (If not, what part is that?) Because both are broke on my unit. I can't clearly tell from the pics if it comes with or not. For clarity, it's the piece that you press on with your fingers to unlatch the door. Hans December 08, 2012 for Model Number MDB7851AWS2 Not all selections on the control board are lighting up and the dishwasher is not working. Should we purchase the control board? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Hans, Turn the power off to the unit and remove the screws to the door liner to gain access to the control area. Remove the ribbon cable and use a dry pencil eraser to clean the ribbon cable. Be sure to note if any gaskets around the vent area appear to have been leaking since moisture will cause corrosion on the electrical connections. when you clean the ribbon cable, rub the connections only toward the end to prevent damage to the cable. If this produces no positive results, the issue can be with the control panel or the control board. The panel W10197307 is normally suspected before the control board WPW10218838. Read More...
