Hello Craig, It sounds to me as though the pump has leaked at some point in the past and the motor shaft has rusted. I have run into this situation quit a bit and it is very simple to rectify. Simply use a piece of sandpaper on the motor shaft and the excess will come off easily. Then the pump will slide on without much effort at all. DO NOT USE A HAMMER ON THE PUMP! If you do this, you will be re-ordering the pump as it will break under the impact of the hammer and if by some weird chance it doesn't, it will cause the seal to leak.

Hello Marilyn, The inner tub has a balance ring made in it that is filled with a saline solution. When the load spins, the liquid will sling to the opposite side, balancing the load. They use a saline solution so the water won't stagnate. If this were to happen, the stagnated water could expose families to illnesses un-necessarily. The saline solution is benign so it cannot make you sick.

Sherri, First check for a kinked drain hose, or clogged drain line, this would be a possible issue for the leak when used (only). The other possibility for the leak and poor drain would be a drain pump issue WP3363394 it could be clogged and or the impeller is damaged, or the impeller shaft is seizing, etc. The squealing noise at the end of the cycle would be a brake shoe issue 285438 Here's a link to a APP Repair Forum post that should help you out. Hello Catman. You will need to look for a hole in the pump or any of the hoses for water coming out. If you lean the unit back while filling, you can look under it for the leak. Then you will replace the part that is leaking in the unit.
