Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Drain Pump (Part Number: OEM18024330)

Hello Ken. It sounds like the unit is siphoning out the water in the unit. Check and make sure there is only 6" of drain hose in the drain pipe. Also, make sure the drain pipe is 36" off the floor in height. You will need to check and make sure the drain hose has an air gap going into the drain pipe. If it is air tight, it will siphon.

Hi Steve. This is called a siphon-lock. Look at the drain hose and pull it out of the standpipe. Make sure there is a gap in between the drain hose and the standpipe opening. It needs proper air also while it is draining. You may need to extend the standpipe higher then the top of the washer. Use a Y-pipe and a anti-siphon cap on the top of it to allow air to be drawn in while the drain pipe is in the side Y-portion. Use drain-o in the standpipe while doing this. Your drain hose is only needed to be inserted 6 - 8" only. Thank You.

Dick for Model Number 11092586400

We had the Sears washer apart to install the new Lid Switch Assembly and noticed a black rubber ring laying on the floor; the white plastic pegs are broken. Black shavings were laying on the floor also. I just now ordered the Motor Coupler Assy.and also a new pump. My question is: if this part was laying on the floor; is there something else wrong to cause it to fall out of the motor? Maybe another part needs to be replaced? Thanks This site is wonderful!!!!

Hello Dick. No, over time they wear out and if they break bad enough, they will fall onto the floor. Also, overloading the unit will cause them to break like this. You will just need to replace the motor coupling 285753A. Hope this helps.

Hello Marc. You will need to check and see if the cold water is working on the water valve. If the valve is bad and not letting in cold water, the machine will stop. Try using cold on the wash cycle and see if the cold water fills the tub assembly. If not, replace the water valve WPW10140917. Hope this helps.

Hello LP. As a technician, my opinion is irrelevant, but the pumps are designed and built to the manufacturers' specifications. Have a great day!

Hello Chris. You will need to check and see if the clutch assembly 285785 is bad or if the drive block WP389140 is bad on the unit. If so, eith one of these will cause the problems you are having with the unit. Hope this helps.

Hello K-Man. You can check and see if the pump is roundeed out where it goes onto the motor and remove the drain hose and see if it pumps into a bucket. If not, and the drain hose is clear, and the tub to pump hose is clear, you will need to replace the pump WP3363394 on the unit. Hope this helps.
