Gary W. May 16, 2011 for Model Number LGR5620KQ1 Ignitor glows at start up, burners do not light everytime and when they do, they do not burn the duration of the cycle. Could it be the flame sensor?
1 Answer Hello Gary! It sounds as if the coils have gone out on your unit. Here is the coil kit part number for your product, 279834. Thanks! Read More...
Myron May 15, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR7646DZ1 The gas wouldn't ignite, but the dryer turns. The symptom of no ignition occurred for a few days, then it worked fine for a few and now it's gone again. I replaced the ignitor. The old ignitor has a resistance of about 80 ohms. The replacement, about 40. I do not measure any voltage across the ignitor supply wires when the dryer is ON. Is the new igniter faulty, i.e. the resistance is in the wrong range?
1 Answer Hello Myron. You will want to test the 279834 coils using a multi-meter. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Hope this helps! Read More...
Mike May 11, 2011 for Model Number 11097588210 I replaced coils AP3094251 and ignitor AP3094138 just in case because there was no glow in the ignitor prior to repair. I replaced parts and I then visually inspected the thermal fuse on this dryer on the exhaust duct and appears to be not broken. Please advise what else may be wrong to get the dryer to dry.
1 Answer Hello Mike. What is the problem you are experiencing with the unit now? Is it just not heating? Does the dryer come on? Thanks Read More...
1 Answer Hello David. It is located on the burner assembly. You will need to remove the front panel to access the igniter. You will see the burner assembly under the drum. Hope this helps. Read More...
Ron May 03, 2011 for Model Number ngd5500TQ0 Where is the best place to start if there is no heat? The dryer tumbles for the entire timed cycle, but the flame never comes on.
1 Answer Hello Ron. You will want to make sure that the exhaust vent tube is clear from any obstruction. If so, verify that the igniter 279311 is glowing a bright red almost white. If the igniter is okay, you might want to replace the coil kit 279834. Thanks Read More...
Sal April 25, 2011 for Model Number wgd6400sw2 Hi, dryer flame comes on for about 2 min. Then shuts of for about a minute, then flame comes back on, and this keeps going and will not dry clothing.
1 Answer Hello Sal. It sounds like the venting system is clogged. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the pipe and the dryer both. If it is clogged, the dryer will get hot very quickly and shut off the flame. Hope this helps. Read More...
Clinton M. April 11, 2011 for Model Number 110-76932691 kenmore gas dryer Have a kenmore gas dryer (whirlpool) 110-76932691, S/N MG1601207 that the gas flame will only stay on 10-15 seconds when the cycle first starts. Then it will not stay on after that. Have new thermal fuse(no. WP3390719) and duct is not kinked and appears clean and has good air flow discharge.Have both new gas valve coils(WPL 279834 kit-AP3094251). Are these the correct coils(order no.1798273) since there was some debate at your office as to whether these are the right coils since there was no cross reference for this model dryer? The glow ignitor glows brightly. I do not know about the thermostats, flame sensor or gas valve but they seem to work since the gas ignites in the beginning. When the gas flame starts and shuts off there a few clicking sounds so the valve must be working. Is the flame sensor a seperate thermal couple and how do you replace it if it is needed? What do you suggest I try now and what part no. and it's cost as I do not want to spend a fortune on this 14 yr. old dryer?
1 Answer Hello Clinton! It seems that the secondary coil has gone out. You will need to replace both coils, per the manufacture. The correct part number is 279834. Thanks. Read More...
William April 04, 2011 for Model Number MDG2300BWW Dryer heats up or 5-10 seconds, then the flame turns off. I changed both coils, Hi limit t-stat, and I changed the Igniter about 4 months ago. As soon after the flame turn off I test the Hi limit, there is no continuity, but after it cools down it works. It looks to me the flame is too high and trigging the Hi limit t-stat. How can I control the flame, does the flame sensor have something to do with it.
1 Answer Hello William. You will need to check the air flow and see if it is ok. Make sure the vent is good and not kinked. You can try running the dryer without the vent hooked up to test this. Hope this helps. Read More...
Alex April 04, 2011 for Model Number LGR8648LW0 Dryer heats up for about 4 minutes then continues tumbling without heating up. When it is stopped for 15 or so minutes, it will fire up again. Vent is clear. Once the flames go out, it glows for a few seconds at least once a minute, but does not re-fire. I replaced the coils about a year ago, can they have gone bad? Is it consistent with my problem if the timer works on a timed dry, but does not rotate once it's set in the Auto dry? Even if the clothes are dry? When the dryer first showed signs of a problem it was re-firing up, but less often then it should so clothes were taking longer to dry, once in a while we'd smell a little gas (vents in to basement)but not getting that now The last problem (last year) when coils went, the dryer was periodically making a clicking sound, now that isn't present
1 Answer Hello Alex. It sounds like the coils are bad and will need to be replaced. You will need to check your vent first and make sure it is not kinked or clogged. Hope this helps. Read More...
Lisa April 01, 2011 for Model Number LGR8648LW0 It will help absolutely, if it resolves my issue! :)! 1) I am just wondering what made this different then when it was the coils? 2) Also although I didn't physically go behind the dryer yet, the flow comes out pretty good from the diverter, is that good enough to rule out a different cause? 3) Finally, is there a different part that could cause similar/same 'symptoms', based on my description? I just want to rule out any other possibilities, need the dryer up and running!
1 Answer Hello Lisa. Lets try this, unhook the vent from the dryer and try running a load and see what it does. If it works properly, then the vent is the issue. If there is still a problem, test the cycling thermostat. It should read closed on the large terminals and read resistance on the small terminals. If it is good, check the high limit thermostat W11050897 and see if it is bad. If it opens up, the dryer will not heat again until it closes. The coils should be ok since you replaced them already. Hope this helps. Read More...
