Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Hello Saad, What you want to check is the bracket assembly WP2180226 that holds your switch. Remove drip tray and using a flat blade screwdriver, there is a groove at bottom of dispenser trim. Insert screwdriver into groove and pull out. This will pop the dispenser cover on one side and you need to do the same for the other side. Once out lift cover off and look at the left side of the dispenser. There will be a switch held in by pins. If the pins have broken then the bracket will need to be replaced.

Hello Jerry, With your icemaker leaking it would be a deteriorating mold and the mold WPW10190929 or icemaker 4317943 would need to be replaced. If you replace just the mold assembly then you would also need to get ALumilastic cement WP4317852. You put this on the thermostat before reconnecting the mold to the housing.

Hello Wally. You will need to check and see if it is the valve or the icemaker. You have to test for power to the water valve during a cycle to do this. When the power stops going to the valve, it should shut the water off. If not, then the valve is bad. If so, then the icemaker is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

I have a 15 year old Zub Zero Frig. The ice maker which looks identical to the Whirlpool unit, started making hollow ice ? than stopped altogether. I removed the Ice Maker and unplugged the wiring connector, inside the plastic connector I noticed a burn mark at the white wire terminal. I cannot remove the wiring harness, as its part of the frig. wiring. Should I just replace the maker and hope it works. After i put the maker back in, it made ice a few times (hollow ice again) than stopped. I also checked the water line, which was ok.

Hello Jeffery, Based on the information provided you may want to check your fill tube to make sure that it is not freezing up. If the fill tube is freezing this would cause low water to icemaker. Also check to see if you have a filter somewhere in the unit or connected to incoming water line that may be giving you low water pressure to icemaker. Low water pressure is the cause for hollow ice.

Hello Jill, The first thing that you want to do is pull the cover off the icemaker and check the pin in the middle of the big gear on the motor module. If the pin is broken then you would need to replace the ice module W10190935. If pin is ok then you would want to check the thermostat and heater. This can be done by doing a continuity check. You would take the motor module off the icemaker and check the 4 pins that stick out. You want to go across the 2 at the bottom that are furtherest from each other. Then check the other 2. If you have no continuity then that is the part that is bad. If either of these are bad you should replace icemaker D7824706Q If these check ok and there are no burn marks on the motor module then you would want to check to see if you are getting power to the water valve when the icemaker calls for it. If you have power then you would want to replace the water valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Hello Frank, Pull the front cover off of the icemaker. Take the icemaker motor off and using multi meter check continuity of thermostat WP627985 and heater WPW10190929. If you do not have continuity on either part then you would need to either replaced that part or the icemaker. If you have to replace either of these parts you will also need allumilastic WP4317852. Also check the large gear on the motor to make sure the pins in the middle are not broken or pushed together. If this is the case then you will need to replace the module W10190935. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
