For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Terry B for Model Number Kenmore Model # 106.71194101

The ice maker has started dripping in 2 places (main leak is closest to the refrigerator door with a minor leak to the rear), but only when the water is refilling. I put a coffee cup under the main leak to catch the drippings otherwise I have a tray with a single iceberg in 24 hours. Will a replacement ice maker take care of that or do I need to thaw or clean out a water delivery line? If I need a replacement part, what SKU or part # do I need. PS...I'm older and not very limber or mechanically talented, which you probably figured out from the coffee cup "fix", so I will most likely need to hire someone to install this for me. If I can't get it installed, what are my options for returning the part and reverting back to breaking out the old ice trays?

Hello John, You want to check to make sure that the pins on the motor wheel are not broken. If this is the case the icemaker will not cycle and you will have to replace the motor module W10190935. You also want to check your emitter board. If you look at the right wall of unit there will be a flashing red light. When you close the flapper on the left side it the right side should glow solid red. If it continues to flash and beam is not blocked then you would need to replace the emitter board W11629974.

Hello Clarke, Based on the information provided it does not appear that the icemaker is at faulty. It sounds as though your fill tube for the defrost drain is clogged. What you would want to do is to remove the rear cover of the freezer and clear out the ice that is there. You would want to use hot water to pour down the drain. Before you pour the hot water in pull the unit out and there will be a nipple on the drain that comes down. Remove the nipple and clean it out. Make the opening a little bigger in the nipple so it does not get clogged so easy. Reinstall nipple and pour hot water down drain until it flows freely.

Hello Rogerio. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Rita, one way to tell is, if you can get the old one out, you should be able to put the new one in. This replacement ice maker D7824706Q mounts with a couple screws. You will likely need to re-use your old front cover, wire harness, and shut off arm from the failed ice maker. You'll need to line up the fill cup with the inlet tube and plug in the harness. Normally, an easy reapair if you have little technical aptitude. Hope this helps!

Rey for Model Number msd2756gew

on our icemaker, it will stop the arm rotation and will not dump the ice. The ice sits on top of the ice maker and thats as far as it goes. We have to manually move the ice so that the rotation can complete. This happens OCCASSIONALY, and usually when we will need ice for extra company (the icemaker seems to know when this will be and stops the arm roation). I spoke to someone in the sales department and they said it was a "housing issue", but that the housing was not available as a seperate part anymore. What was the housing part number, and if I cant get the housing anymore, I have a dremmel and not afraid to use it :) , what can I do?
