Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Hello Vinny. You will open the freezer door and remove the 1/4" screws on the back right hand side under the icemaker tray. Then remove the cover the screw was securing in place. Once removed, you will release the tab on the left side and slide the assembly forward. Be careful and tape closed the flap on the left side of the freezer so you don't break it. Once removed, you will unplug the wires going to the icemaker. Now you can access and remove the screws securing the icemaker to the tray. Reinstall with the new icemaker 4317943 in reverse order. Hope this helps.

Hello Don. Check and make sure the water valve is not causing the unit to overflow and drip into the bin. If the valve is good, you will need to replace the icemaker D7824706Q. Hope this helps.

Hi Michael/ The 2- ice maker side tabs are used to first clip the ice maker onto the side wall brackets or screws. Did you remove screws at the side / top of the ice maker ? If there are any screw bosses on the side of the cabinet, only use 1/2 " screws to remount the ice maker . The bottom Fwd lower metal bracket on the ice maker is bolted to the side of the cabinet. Make sure the ice maker is level so your ice cube fills are normal. Thank You.

John, OK, The "U" shaped tube in the diagram, is the mold heater. If that is rusted or has sediment dripping from it, that would be an issue in the icemaker mold, or the icemaker is overfilling, slightly. Start by replacing the ice maker. Thanks for the clarification, Thanks and Good Luck

John, a couple of things to look for. Make sure the ice maker itself is level in both directions. Remove the front cover and make sure the two lower mounting screws, on the control head are tight. Then slightly adjust the water level/fill time on the control head, turn the adjustment screw( on the right side of the control head) 1/2 turn (at a time) clockwise to reduce the water level in the mold. Thanks and Good Luck

John, There's the issue. No manufacturer uses metal fill tube grommets any more, or in the recent past(30 to 40 years). Here is the grommet/fill tube assembly that should be in your refrigerator WP61005940. You'll need to order and repalce it. Good Luck and Thanks

John, The issue is not in the refrigerator. All the water carrying components are either Brass or Plastic, and don't usually rust. Any brown sediment or particles would be atributable to the water supply and plumbing, you may want to install an inline filter assembly 19950155 . As you mentioned the discoloration seems to be from the fill tube, so I would not suspect the ice maker mold, to be an issue at this point . Good Luck and Thanks
