Steve H December 03, 2012 for Model Number Maytag MED9600SQO Dryer squeaking, took apart. Think it is idler pulley. Should I replace all 4 drum rollers as well since it is disassembled now? Is there a kit, or do I need to purchase all individually? Thanks
1 Answer Steve, Remove the rollers WPW10314173 and check the roller shafts WPW10359272 for "bluing" and "heavy" scratches in the metal. If all appears OK, clean up the shafts and the roller bearing with some emory cloth and penetrating oil. use a couple of drops of turbine oil TJ93240 on each shaft and roller, install the new idler bracket assembly W10837240 and belt 661570V and you'll be fine for a few more years. Ralph November 26, 2012 for Model Number GEW9250PW1 My 5 year old dryer is squeeling badly, but the drum still rolls and the unit drys clothes as usual. I am thinking of replacing the drum rollers. Kit AP3109602 seems to have all the necessary parts except for the 4 Tri-rings, 2 washers, and the shafts for each roller. Should I replace the shafts when replacing the rollers?
1 Answer Hello Ralph. The kit 4392067 comes with the clips. It is not needed to replace the shafts, unless they are worn down. Then you will need to replace them. Read More...

John June 02, 2012 for Model Number GGW9250PW1 Our Whirpool Duet gas dryer is about 5 years old. Over the last several months we are seeing 1"-3" brown/burn marks on some of our white and light colored clothes. They tend to come out after being treated and rewashed. Looking into the back of the dryer there is a substantially larger gap/amount of felt drum seal showing than at the left lower corner. Moving my finger arond from upper right large gap to to lower left small gap, I can feel my finger getting pinched. The dryer does not make any unusual or squeaking noises. Is this a sign that something is out of alignment and needs adjusment or just the drum seal is worn out and/or that a roller (left rear) is worn out and/or drum belt/pully? What are the wear signs I should inspect for to determine what really needs to be replaced? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello John. Based on the information you provided, you will need to replace the felt seals 280114 and the rollers WPW10314173 on the front and back of the dryer drum. This will repair the issue with the brown streaks. Read More...

Ari January 23, 2012 for Model Number GGQ8858KQ0 My dryer also squeals and runs roughly; according to your advice above I think that a belt, rollers and possibly a pulley are in order. Is there a repair/dryer kit for my model(GGQ8858KQ0) or do I have to buy these parts individually? Also, do you reccomend replacing anything else while I have the dryer open for repair? Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Hi Ari. Look inside the front of the dryer drum to the top at he front. Put your finger carefully up where the upper drum contacts the inner front & rear panel. If there is a large gap it may be that the drum felt is worn out. It is part # 280114. You will need 2 of them and do not use the unit for 24hrs as the felt glue needs time to dry. A usual noise will come from the roller the closest above the heater can. The roller kit that comes with both rollers and all the clips is part # 349241T. Matching belt 341241 and idler pulley WP691366. The shaft is part # WPW10359271. One is always burnt , but there is one each for each roller. There can be debris in the blower wheel that can cause a noise also. It is part # WP697772. Thank You. Read More...
Dfrancis December 20, 2011 for Model Number 11096588210 My dryer also squeals loudly and I wanted to replace rollers and belt, possibly idler pulley also. Will the rollers in the kit (AP3098345) work on my machine or do I have to get two of the AP5177441 (single roller) kind? They look different in the photo. The single ones look like the ones on my machine now (except mine are green, not red), but the kit has all the clips and is more cost-effective.
1 Answer Hello Dfrancis. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you need to order the dryer kit 4392065 for your model. Hope this helps. Read More...
