Hello Kim. F then 50 flashes when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation. ? Does basket turn freely? If not, clear the obstruction. If it does, then you will need to order and replace the board if the wire harness and the rps sensor is new.

I have a Maytag Bravo and we noticed water on the floor under the machine. I looked under the machine and notived water and a black greasy ring on the floor under the rotor. I also noticed the screw holding the rotor on had come loose and backed out of the rotor about 3/4 of an inche. I tightened this and blocked up the machine and run it thru the cycle. When it got to the agitating part of the cycle it was leaking around the rotor. I like the machine and want to fix it. Is this a seal ?

Scott, You will want to do the motor circuit test on page 4 of the tech sheet. The F54 is a motor circuit overcurrent.

Raymond H. for Model Number Whirlpool Cabrio

I am having a similar problem that I see so many others having. I get the UL code when the rinse and spin cycle starts. When the cycle starts, there is a rubbing sound. When the UL stops the drum, I open it and try rotating the drum the rubbing sound is still there. I thought it was the bearings, but I removed the rotor from the stator and then rotated the drum and the sound and resistance is gone and it rotates smooth and quiet. The rotor is covered in black dust. Do I need a new rotor? Thanx.

1 Answer

Hello Raymond, The motor rotor has to be out of round. You will need to verify that no damage has been done to the stator windings. I would have looked up the part numbers for you but as with all appliances, the parts for each specific model have to be looked up by the model number.

Chuck, The rotor on the unit does not get timed. The F51 error code is a representation that the Rotor position sensor is faulty and would need to be replaced. The part number for the sensor is WPW10178988.

Lobny, The UL error code is an indication of an unbalanced load. The UL will appear when the machine/motor control detects an off balanced load, and is steady on while the washer runs a mini-cycle to rebalance the load. The display will clear if the mini cycle is successful at rebalancing the load. If the mini cycle is unsuccessful then the UL will flash until the door lid is opened. At this point you would need to redistribute the load. If this is unsuccessful then you will need to check the rods that support the tub and make sure that they are not damaged or that they are out of position. It may need to have the rods replaced.

Josh for Model Number mtw6600tbo

Hello I have a maytag bravos mtw6600tbo the problem I'm having is that the washer will go all the way through cycles, until spin cycle then the whole tub and everything bounces out of control and hit the inside of the cabinet, now the problem is I have already replaced the suspension and the machine still does the same thing, although if I grab the outer tub and wiggle the actual basket it seems to wobble, but the hub appears to be OK, I really want to fix this machine, also everything quiet and no bearing noises or anything, not sure where to go next. Please any help would be much appreciated

1 Answer

Josh, You will want to make sure that the inner tub is not loose causing the unit to wobble. Also check to make sure that the agitator shaft is not loose. If the agitator shaft is loose then you will need to replace the bearings for the unit.

Dennis, We wouldn't expect the rotor 280146 to make noise, it's pretty much stationary. You most likely have an issue with the tub bearings and shaft W10435302 and the tool W10447783 will be required to change out the parts.
