Raymond H. for Model Number Whirlpool Cabrio I am having a similar problem that I see so many others having. I get the UL code when the rinse and spin cycle starts. When the cycle starts, there is a rubbing sound. When the UL stops the drum, I open it and try rotating the drum the rubbing sound is still there. I thought it was the bearings, but I removed the rotor from the stator and then rotated the drum and the sound and resistance is gone and it rotates smooth and quiet. The rotor is covered in black dust. Do I need a new rotor? Thanx.
Answer Hello Raymond, The motor rotor has to be out of round. You will need to verify that no damage has been done to the stator windings. I would have looked up the part numbers for you but as with all appliances, the parts for each specific model have to be looked up by the model number. Read More...
