Mark, Based on the information that was provided it sound like there is a short in the start key on the unit. When pressing start it should never go into a drain cycle. The control panel part number is WPW10243209.

Edward K. for Model Number KUDS30FXSS1

Ran the service diagnostics several times. It doesn't clean anything in the top rack. All spray arms and tubes are all free of obstruction. Keeps showing low water. Also says overfill in stuck open position. Ohm meter shows overfill working just fine. Shows all the circuits working. Fill valve seems to work just fine. Don't know if the OWI sensor is bad. Plenty of water getting to the valve. No blockage to the fill valve. The control board is 6 months old. I just don't know what else to check. Dishwasher is only 4 years old and I'm not ready to trash it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Edward, First thing you should do is verify the water pressure to the dishwasher. Since they fill on a timed basis, if low water pressure is the issue, it will not fill with enough water if the water pressure is too low from the shut-off valve not being fully opened or if the valve connection is fouled with sedimentation and/or mineral deposits. The water valve may not be opening fully due to a mechanical problem that will not show up on a test meter. You could have a heavy float switch that is shutting the water off pre-maturely. There could be an issue with the control which would also prevent the proper fault codes from being displayed. Lastly, you could have a stopped up filter or check valve or a separated spray arm interfering with the water pressure.

I have a Whirlpool dishwasher model #DU1055XTSD2. Water will not heat for normal or high temp wash cycles but the heating element is good because it heats during the heated dry cycle. Ran the diagnostics and it failed during the thermistor check. The only part I can find that seems to be a thermistor is the turbidity sensor, which appears to be a combination soil sensor and thermistor? Your site shows it as part #25 on the pump and motor parts diagram, part #W10134017. Does this seem like it might be the right part for the symptoms I am experiencing?

My 3.5 month old dishwasher developed a problem. It will not drain completely between cycles or at the end of the program. The drain pump runs and discharges a small flow when it runs. I have run the complete cycle holding the drain hose going directly into the sink. Between cycles it will leave wash water at the level of the heating element and then refill to start the rinse cycle. When completely done there is water still remaining at the level of the element. Pressing the cancel/drain button will cause the tub to completely drain.

Hello Brain. It is normal for some water to remain in the unit, but should not be visible with the door open. You will need to look for blockages in the drain hose and if there is none, replace the pump on the unit.

You guys helped me fix my dryer a week ago, now my dishwasher is broken. I'm having bad luck lately with my appliances. I'm hoping you will be able to help with this appliance as well. The dishwasher stopped in the middle of a cycle. The control pad is not responding and there are no lights. I pulled out the wiring diagram from under the dishwasher and I came across a suggestion to disconnect the keypad ribbon from the control circuit board. Then reassemble the panel and close the door. The next part of the instructions puzzle me. It says to disconnect and reconnect the thermister or OWI sensor two times in less than 6 seconds. Trouble is I have no idea where that is! Would you be able to tell me please? I have ordered a new bi metal thermal fuse from your site yesterday. I have a feeling though that it may not be the problem. I took the fuse out and tested it for continuity with my digital meter and it registered 0 which in my understanding means it is good. However when I replaced my cycling thermostat on my dryer it was registering continuity as well but it was still bad. So I don't trust the test. A dryer is one thing with its mechanical parts but the electronics on the dishwasher are annoying me. Any ideas what I can do?

Hello John. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the thermal fuse W10258275 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Jerry for Model Number KUDS30CXWH0

I've had this dishwasher for about two years. Recently, the control panel started acting up. Some of the buttons no longer functioned, e.g., ProScrub option. Also, the Normal cycle would get to the Rinse cycle and then Cancel / Drain and turn off. I could occasionally get it to complete a cycle.I then replaced the control panel and all the lights and cycles appeared to be functional, but the problem remained. I did attempt to replace the control board, but the one I purchased did not have the plug for the control panel display and I returned it. However, I did install it before I realized the plug issue and the original problem remained. At this point I ran diagnostics to no avail. My question is what else could be the issues. As I see it, there are only two other part I could replace: the main control board (W10380685) and the sensor (W10134017). Any help would be much appreciated.

1 Answer

Jerry, Are you sure you seated the new control pnel ribbon into the connector on the control board tightly and properly ? Did you try conducting the diagnostics, before you replaced the control panel ? The sensor WPW10705575 shouldn't cause the dishwasher to cancel and shut down during a cycle, it will extend or decrease the length of the cycle based on the degree of soil in the water. Based on your post, the control board WPW10380685 is the likeliest issue.

Hello Nicole, Was the noise the unit filling with water or a grinding noise or a clicking sound? It could be a piece of broken glass in the pump assembly. If you could give us a bit more information it would be much easier to diagnose the issue for you. Please re-post with more information and we will be happy to assist you.
