For Whirlpool Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM18057270)

Mike O for Model Number G10FSAXVY011

Whirlpool french door bottom freezer with ice & water in door. The ice maker will run the auger but will not fill the water reservoir. The water in the door does run when lever depressed. I believe the correct replacement part number is WPW10300024 for the whole unit. If water in the door is flowing but water to the ice maker does not fill when wire lever is lowered does the entire unit need to be replaced or just the part necessary to open the "selenoid?".

1 Answer

Mike, Check to see if the water valve is getting 120 vac to it and if it is then replace the valve and if not replace the icemaker.

Melanie, It appears that the harness does not come with this icemaker and will need to be purchased separately. The part number for the harness is W10312698.

Tim, It would be recommended to check and make sure that the fill tube that supplies the icemaker is not frozen which could have been caused by a faulty water valve.

Donald Roper for Model Number Whirlpool WRX735SDHZ00

My icemaker stopped making ice. Its a Whirlpool French door Refrigerator with the Center drawer (WRX735SDHZ00 ). Right before it stopped working It was making small and large pieces of ice at the same time but then stopped. I thought the water supply tube was clogged or frozen so I took a hair dryer and heated up the area where the icemaker is. I put the ice bin back in and heard water going into the icemaker. A little while later the icemaker dumped ice and again some of them were tiny and some were oversized. It cycled all several times that night but made very little ice. The next day it made a little more then it quit again. Again I grabbed a hair dryer and defrosted the line and it started making the malformed ice again. I was thinking the tray was blocked so I took the Ice maker out and check it and I didn't find a blockage in the tray. BTW, the light for the middle drawer appears to be bad UNTIL I put the icemaker back and then the light came on. As I pushed the ice maker further into the slot the light started strobing and then went back out. Is it the Ice Maker, the Thermostat or the Control Panel?

Donald R, Based on the information provided your refrigerator has self-diagnostics, I would start by locating the tech sheet that the manufacturer packaged with the refrigerator and follow the directions for the service test. This will likely lead you to the issue at hand.

Hello Mark, If the icemaker is not filling with water you will need to make sure the fill tube is not frozen. This would be another thing that would cause the water in the ice container. You will need to replace the water inlet valve W11043013 in this case.

Hello Bob, there is no adjustment to speed up ice making, since the ice maker did harvest and refill then electrically it is working , the problem may be getting the ice maker to get cold enough fast enough, behind the ice maker there is an auxiliary ice fan that helps with this, if you do not hear it running it would explain the problem also the freezer should be at 0-5 deg.
