The Control Timer is an OEM replacement part specific to Whirlpool washers. It is the electronic component responsible for governing the sequence and duration of wash cycles. Located inside the control console, the timer works with the control dial to initiate various wash/rinse phases based on the selected settings.

Causes for timer failure may include water exposure corroding electrical circuits or repeated rapid switching wearing out internal switches.

Symptoms of a faulty control timer include:

  • Inability to advance through complete cycles
  • Random operation of rinse or spin functions
  • Premature termination of cycles before finishing
  • Failure to respond when turning the cycle selector

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Control Timer (Part Number: OEM18050673)

Dindoo N. for Model Number Admiral ATW4475VQ0 washing machine

Is the Admiral ATW4475VQ0 "Two Speed Combinations" washer supposed to have two agitator speeds, one fast and one slow? The agitator runs as fast on "Gentle" as it does on "Normal", which defeats the purpose of "Gentle" when washing delicate clothes, even with the pauses on "Gentle". I watched the video for the AP6016888 Control Timer and that motor connector had only 2 wires, not 3, suggesting that the motor/agitator is single speed. I haven't opened up my control panel yet. If the agitator is supposed to move slower in "Gentle" but doesn't, which part is likely to have failed? Thank you

Hello Dindoo, This model does have a single-speed motor. The manufacturer considers the pauses they installed in the timer between agitations to be the delicate cycle. Even though the wash is the same, it does it less so they consider it "delicate".

David, For this issue, you will want to check to make sure that the pressure switch is good and that the pressure tube is not clogged. Also, check to make sure that the cold water supply is not clogged on the valve.

Verlon, Try to advance the timer on the unit and see if it will drain. It sounds likely that the issue will be in the timer of the unit.

David for Model Number ATW4475XQ0

I have messed with this washer so much that I've almost forgotten the original problems. It stopped washing but would rinse and spin. The timer would not advance but when physically put on "rinse", it would rinse, spin and stop at the "off" spot on dial. Then it stopped doing anything altogether. I installed a water inlet valve and a timer. I've blown out the hose with my mouth. I did not find water, kinks or holes in the hose. This is what is happening now: hot water does not enter the machine, only cold. The hose is hooked up and is turned on. I have to manually pop the little screw on water level switch to change from small, medium or large (sometimes this works). Timer does not advance at beginning, it still has to be physically put on rinse which advances to spin and then off. Here's the weirdest part: it's washing on spin for about 5 min, then rinsing and then spinning until off position. I'm thinking it could be water level switch assembly and/or the temperature switch. At a loss and tired or throwing $$ at it. I'm the only male in the household and the situation is intense.

Hello David. It sounds like both the water level switch and the temp switch has failed and will need to be replaced. The issues seem to point to both of these parts. Thank you.

Hello Phillip. If the timer is not advancing or anything during those cycles, but works on the other cycles, you will need to replace the timer.

Hello David, If the unit stops filling when the power cord is unplugged from the wall outlet, the pressure switch W10339251 will be the issue. If the water has to be turned off at the supply faucet to get the water to stop filling, the water valve WPW10144820 will be the issue.
