For Whirlpool Timer (Part Number: OEM18017355)

Moon for Model Number MAV275AWW

I noticed that the clothes are still wet after a REGULAR washing cycle. It is the cycle I frequently use. This is the Maytag Insignia 2006 Serial #261-062-75JC. My neighbor is a handyman and suggested changing the drive belt which appeared pretty loose. So I did but the clothes were still wet at the end. I opened the lid by placing a flathead screwdriver gently into the switch so I could watch the spin cycle. I then saw the spin start but it never gained speed. Next thing a few spins in, the agitator 'woke up' and started agitating. This happened after about 5 -6 seconds. Eventually, this action pulled the clothes off the wall, unbalancing the load and caused it to spin even slower. I love this machine- it is old-style - I would love to have advice on which part to buy and how to fix it. Can you please help me?

Moon, there are a couple of other components to check, the first being the 12002213/12002213 Thrust Bearing Kit, if or when this assembly "wears out" it will not engage the transmission and create a "poor" spin performance, and can cause intermittent engagement of the agitation shaft, by now the thrust bearing cam and spacers are pretty well worn and is the most likely issue. Also, check and make sure the motor moves feely on the slide plate and the slide plate is clean and free of dust and debris. Thanks,

Dale for Model Number PAVT454EWW

I have a problem which first started as Maytag PAVT454EWW washer not going into high speed spin, which has now now turned into the washer drum not spinning the drum at all but agitator still agitates (even during spin mode). Door switch works (if in spin mode stops all actions when lifted), the motor winding(s) OHM out good, the 4 position speed switch is working (ohm'd), and you can see the agitation speed change when set to normal (fast) vs other settings. I can provide a video if needed. Thanks.

Hello Dale. You will need to check the thrust bearing 12002213 under the unit and see if it is bad. If it is good, then the transmission 35-6615 will need to be replaced on the unit.

Dosha, With the unit not advancing cycles, this would be a issue with the timer of the unit.

Alfred, Yes, you need to partially extract the "green" colored retainer pin. You'll need to use a small flat blade screwdriver, On the back of the timer you'll insert the end of the screwdriver into the "D" shaped opening and pry out on the "green" colored shaft. You'll need to withdraw it appeoximately 3/8 to 1/2 inch. Install the knob on the front timer shaft, then press the green retainer back into it's original position.

Hello Earl, It is more probable the either the lid switch 12001187 or the unit isn't draining the water out sufficiently WP35-6780. Another common failure common in this design is the thrust bearing kit 12002213. It releases the brake so the tub can get up to full speed. The timer shouldn't play a part in this instance.

Carolkohring for Model Number MAV3758AWW

I replaced the thrust bearing because the tub wasn't spinning in the spin cycle but now the brake keeps setting and won't release by itself and when it's suppose to be spinning the adjator keeps adjating instead of the tub spinning does this mean my timer is out. What it was doing when I replaced the thrust bearing was in the spin dry cycle it would go into out of balance bounces and as soon as you would rearange and turn back on it would do it again and when finished clothes were still wet

Hello Carolkohring. No, it is not the timer. It sounds like the thrust bearing kit is not installed properly. You need to turn the thrust pulley by hand and see if it releases the brake properly. If not, you may need to use a different spacer in the gap to make the pulley tighter on the unit.

Hi Jim. You need to replace the lid switch part #12001187. Make sure that the lid sw. actuator lever part # WP43-0057 is contacting the lid sw. and not broke off . This will not allow the spin to engage as a safety device. We will need the model # to assist. you further. Thank You.
