Michael M April 22, 2013 for Model Number mdg6460aww The dryer turns on with timer switch, but does not advance and will run forever...also simultaneously the dryer does not heat up. Can it all be the fault of the timer, or has some other part failed as well?
1 Answer Hello Michael. It can be the timer. You will need to test for power to the timer motor while the dryer is in the timed dry cycle. If there is power there and the timer does not advance, replace the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Mit4265 February 14, 2013 for Model Number MDE7400AYW Serial # 12717595CA - timer quit turning on dryer so went to parts store to get replacement timer 33002803. It works and the dryer heats but the timer will not advance. Went back and got another timer but same problem. thanks
1 Answer Hello Mit4265, You will want to test the sensor bars on the unit for being good. Also clean the sensor bars with rubbing alcohol as they can get a build up on then from fabric sheets. If the wires to the bar are good and the bars are clean then the dryness control 33002905 is faulty and woul need to be replaced. Read More...

Todd December 21, 2012 I have a Maytag Centennial dryer and it is not heating. It runs fine, it just never heats up. Also, the selector switch never moves. It would run forever if you do not turn it off manually. Do I need to change this switch to fix my problem?
1 Answer Hello Todd, Here is a service manual covering both gas and electric models. As you know, every model number has its' own wiring configuration and diagram. This makes it impossible to go any further that checking the breaker by flipping it off then back on and checking the receptacle and power supply cord. If the service manual in the attachment doesn't help, go to section 6 and use the units' diagnostic mode. This, along with the tech sheet from the unit itself, should help you pinpoint the issue.
