For Whirlpool Trans Dee (Part Number: OEM13119912)

Aaron

I have a MayTag LSE9904ACE Stackable Washer/Dryer. I hear a noticeable whir sound as it goes about washing clothes. It was quiet the 17 years I owned it. The motor seems to run o.k., it does appear easy to jiggle around in it's assembly with my fingers. Is that normal play for the van belt operation? I ordered belts but now I don't think that's the source of the whirring sound. Does the Transmission slowly revolve in a circle as the machine washes clothes? I can stop it by hand but it seems to me the transmission may not be as smooth running anymore and it is rotating because it could be dried up inside? Or worn ? I see no oil or leaks anywhere...Not much else down there in the wash tub area.

Aaron, You will want to check the pump assembly to make sure that there is nothing caught in it. This would be the most likely cause of the noise that you have.

Hello Randy, This will almost certainly be the timer WP22004262 since everything else driving the agitator is the same as used in the delicate cycle. There is a slight possibility of a motor 12002353 winding issue since it is a separate winding for the normal speed.

Bill, if you turn the pulley, and the agitator oscillates, the transmission isn't the issue. If the washer will spin and drain, it's not likely the motor or the belts. You do want to check and make sure the motor carriage and rollers are clean and lubricated so the assembly slides back and forth freely. The issue should be in the timer WP206230, theres a faulty contact and its not supplying power to the motor windings to turn the motor in the agitate direction.

Hello Phil. Test and see if the relay is sending power to the motor. If so, then you will need to order and replace the relay in the unit.

Hello Matt, When the washer agitates while spinning, there is a brake WP6-2011900 problem. You should also check for any oil under the unit. If the lip seal 207843 at the base of the transmission is leaking, oil will get on the brake, causing it to slip. This produces the complaint you have.

Hello Ken, Based on the information it sounds like you have a brake WP6-2011900 issue. The brake is not engaging. This could be caused by a lip seal leak. Check to make sure that you do not have leak.

Hello Damone, The water is more than likely jumping the tub at the beginning of the spin cycle. I would replace the belts 12112425 and adjust the pump as per the service manual I've included in the attachment. There are also two springs under the motor on the motor mount. Originally the manufacturer put the two springs on the same side of the motor mount. They later decided that one of the two springs need to be moved to the other side so there is a spring on each side of the motor mount. Let us know if we can assist you further.

Tim, Does the washer motor run, in the agitation direction? Does the washer fill with water and drain/spin ? With the belts removed, you should be able to turn the transmission pulley in a clockwise direction, you(or a helper) should be able to see the agitator move back and forth. When you turn the transmission pulley counterclockwise, in less than one(1) revolution, you should feel the brake release and see the transmission and tub start to turn, if everything is installed and adjusted properly. If alls OK, you'll need to start looking at the timer, lid switch and motor, because mechanically evrything would be OK. Thanks

Paul, did you replace the tub bearing as well ? If so did you have difficulty installing the outer tub over the transmission sleeve ? Did you overtighten the mounting stem, it only needs to be hand tight then a couple of taps with a hammer to tighten. Check and make sure the tub cover is nor seated too low, and holding the tub in position, there should be a 3/8 to 5/8 inch gap between the two components. Then check and make sure you have the transmission drive pulley installed properly and the drive lug is properly adjusted. We'll send you some information that may help you re check everything. Thanks
