It was a relatively easy fix - if you know how to take the dryer apart. If you don't, there are plenty of YouTube videos explaining how. Make sure you find your model. Since the wheel had separated from the nut, it wasn't quite as easy and holding the shaft and loosening the wheel. I had to remove (destroy) the wheel first. I replaced the dryer motor. I followed the repair video on the Appliance Parts Pro site, with a few modifications to the procedure. I loosened the control panel and flipped it forward to improve access to the wiring connectors. I also loosened the front panel and tipped it forward before disconnecting the door switch as there wasn't enough space to disconnect the switch otherwise. Order set of drum rollers. My dryer required four. As long as I was opening up the dryer, dryer, 10 years old, I wanted to replace all of them. Also ordered new belt for Sam reason. Found full manual online. Disassembled dryer, about 20 screws. Replaced rollers, although only one was squeaky. Put it all back together. Took about 3 hours. Read more

I replaced the drum bearing in the back and also the nylon sliders in the front. It rook some time but was not difficult. I took some extra time to thoroughly clean all the lint from the inside. Read more

I disassembled my dryer and found that the fan(blower wheel) was "free-spinning" on the motor shaft. A common problem with this model Maytag dryer. I also discovered that the right drum roller (drum support roller) was in the process of failing. Note: the fan drive was frozen on the motor shaft, this was the threaded type of motor and fan assembly. Blower wheel and clamp replacement. Initially, we replaced both the belt and drum roller wheels but that did not stop the noise. By reviewing videos on YouTube and AppliancePartsPros, we suspected that the blower wheel could be problematic, even though with front panel of dryer off, we did not see any visual clues to support that theory. Replaced front drum roller wheels and rear drum bearing.Pull plug. Remove 2 screws holding top panel,slide rearward and lift panel off. Remove all screws from back panel,wiring cover and cord clamp. Remove back panel and feed cord through hole.No need to remove cord. Remove 2 screws from heater box and let it drop rearward.Remove belt from motor pulley and let tensioner rest against motor pulley.This step will trigger the switch that disables motor if belt breaks.The switch does not reset... I took the tumbler drum out and looked at the pulley and it was not rotating freely. The idler arm had some wear on the attached post so I replaced bothe parts. Since I was in there already I replaced the drum rollers and dryer belt for good measure. I reassembled the dryer and it works great. The best part of the experience was the parts order. I ordered the parts around 3:00 pm one day, standard shipping, and they were on my doorstep around 1:00 pm the next day. I'm still wondering... Read more
