Door latch broke also causing the fuse to blow James M. • Ocean View , NJ • April 28, 2017
It is difficult (if not impossible) to remove the electronic switches from the hard
plastic latches. I replaced all three switches and both the upper and lower latches I also replaced the main 20 amp ceramic fuse which blew out when the latch/switches failed.

Kitchen aid architect ii microwave turntable stopped rotating Stephanie M. • Colorado Springs , CO • March 25, 2017
First, it was going to cost $95 for an appliance guy just to look at it! I figured there would be an upcharge on the parts + labor on top of the $95, so I took a chance & decided my husband & I could fix it cheaper; we were right, but it was a 3 week process (luckily, we have another microwave in the basement we were able to use in the meantime). I googled the microwave model #, then price checked the same item I thought we needed; printed off the diagrams of the various microwave "systems" &...

This is a vent damper door used in the microwave's exhaust system. It opens to allow steam and cooking fumes to vent outside and closes to prevent outside air from flowing back in. Replace this part if the damper is stuck open or closed, if you hear rattling from the vent area, or if you notice poor ventilation or backdrafts during cooking.

Re routing microwave exhaust Karissa B. • Brookhaven , GA • October 19, 2015
We bought a house with an over-the-range microwave, which just recirculated air into our house--not effective for smoky meals! We removed the microwave and cut a hole to send the exhaust out the back of the microwave (and out of our house), but realized we were missing this damper and frame that go on the back of the microwave for rear exhaust. The parts fit perfectly and now we can enjoy a smoke-free kitchen!

Microwave blew line fuse Gerald G. • St. Louis , MO • August 05, 2019
It took a long time to determine the problem but eventually I discovered that the plastic bracket (latch hook) that held the three door-switches showed appreciable wear from repeated door openings and closings. This wear stopped the door from sealing properly and the door switch safety mechanism blew the line fuse. I replaced the worn bracket (AP6230612) as well as the plastic latch mechanism (AP4553585) on the door that engages this bracket (and of course the fuse too) and the microwave now...

Interior light and turntable failed at the same moment. Stacey B. • New Bern , NC • February 01, 2021
Knowing the odds of 2 failures occurring at the same exact time was unusually high, I just searched your site for what other broken items might affect these two failures. Convert microwave from recycling vent to an external vent system Gaspar D. • Summerfield , NC • December 31, 2015
We followed the manufacturer's instructions about re-positioning the fan motor and installing the vent damper (easy). We constructed a duct system from the microwave to the outside of the house (challenging). We used 3.25" x 10" metal duct to start the system through the wall behind the microwave, where we added framing to reinforce a cut stud. We ran the duct up a closet wall and through its ceiling into the attic. We had to make an offset duct piece from 3.25" x 10" metal duct to clear a...

I recently changed our above the range microwave to vent outside but when there are strong winds against the outlet cool air came in this is an extra block against air intrusion James D. • Downingtown , PA • October 31, 2015
This damper was added to the outside vent duct line as an additional block against outside air intrusion. Under spousal orders I had just changed the microwave vent to the outside (the proper way to go, but much more difficult to accomplish) but then there was some "flowback" when the wind was pressing against the back of the house (westward facing), and I was ordered to reduce this flow before the winter arrived in full force. There is this same damper on the microwave unit itself, but I...

Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 5304493153
The Door Switch is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire wall ovens. It is a component located on the oven door that detects when the door is opened and closed. The door switch works alongside the control board to regulate oven operations based on door position.
Symptoms of a bad door switch can include:
- Oven failing to automatically go into bake or warm modes after door closure
- Interior lights not turning on when the door is opened
- Control buttons/display remaining constantly lit instead of dimming
- Oven not heating or functioning properly in different modes
Causes relate to normal wear over extended use as the door switch mechanism cycles with frequent door openings and closings. Moisture exposure or impacts could also degrade switch performance.
This OEM Frigidaire switch is compatible with Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and some Electrolux wall oven models as well.

Frigidaire microwave oven lights and timer work but oven doesn't heat Reese F. • Essex Junction , VT • August 16, 2015
I diagnosed this problem via the web and the advice was spot on. The problem was a failure of the bottom door switch. I used a multimeter to verify that the switched never closed properly. It took me a minute to figure out how to remove the old switch (press a release tab under the switch while simultaneously rotating counter-clockwise). That was about the most difficult part of the repair.
