Refrigerator and freezer were warming and cooling Cathleen S. • Lake Forest , IL • October 05, 2014
We just had the Defrost Timer replaced less than 90 days ago. Called the appliance company who came to diagnose ($109) and it was the same part, (a $34 part). The part was warrantied, but not the service, which was $270. I saw them install the part in July... less than 5 minutes! The company told me that they bill not by time spent on labor, but according to the "national average" for that repair. They wouldn't give me the warrantied new part without doing the labor. I checked with...

Fresh foods section was not cooling but freezer was cold Cynthia B. • Loganville , GA • January 19, 2018
After reviewing a number of testimonials and your videos from your APP.com site I determined my most likely problem was either the defrost heater, thermostat, timer or possibly all three. The real challenge now began. Getting to the specific parts with my specific model number was a real challenge. It was not as easy as removing the light guard and 5 screws since my model had two Track Cant Shelf vertical rails restricting the removal of the back panel. Also, these rails could not be removed...

Everything in the refrigerator was freezing Steve R. • Neenah , WI • January 03, 2015
I went on you tube to try and figure out what might be causing this problem. It seemed that the problem was either the temperature thermostat or the defrost timer. I figured that seeing as I had never ever seen any frost in the freezer that the problem probably wasn't the defrost timer. So I ordered the temperature control thermostat, received it the very next day and in ten minutes removed the old one and installed the new one and we were good to go. It's been working just fine for the last...

Fridge not cooling. Front display all messed up. Water dispenser not working. David H. • Austin , TX • November 30, 2018
Given all the symptoms, we figured that the control board went out.
First, unplug the refrigerator. The control board was easy to access by removing a panel on the back of the fridge. I unplugged all the connectors and used a putty knife to release the board from the plastic retaining clips. There was some browning on the underside of the board and the back of the refrigerator that suggests one of the capacitors on the board blew. Install the new board by pressing it into the retaining clips...

Dishwasher stopped working it would not turn on Ryan M. • Harmony , PA • November 14, 2023
GE Dishwasher would beep intermittently over the course of about a month. It then began to shut itself off. I would have to reset the breaker to get it to come on. Eventually, it stopped working altogether. After confirming that I did in fact have proper power to the appliance. The main control board had power and was in good shape. I then traced the problem to being a bad UI board. Which I found with the help of a nice lady over the phone at AppliancePartsPros.com.

Refridgerator stopped cooling Gary S. • Madison , WI • April 13, 2015
Replaced the Thermistor Assembly and also picked up Overload Protection circuit per the comments posted by the "experts" on the web site. Both parts cheap enough. I ordered parts at 3:30 in the afternoon and they showed up the next morning from half way across the country. Outstanding service. It also fixed the 9 year old refrigerator. Replacing the parts took about a half hour most of which was moving the unit from the wall and removing the panel to get at the parts.

Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR55X10956
The Main Control Board is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. This critical component manages and coordinates all of the refrigerator's operations, including temperature regulation, defrost cycles, and the functioning of the compressor and fans. It ensures that the refrigerator maintains the desired temperatures and operates efficiently.
Over time, the main control board can fail due to electrical surges, wear and tear on its electronic components, or exposure to moisture. Manufacturing defects or issues within the refrigerator’s electrical system can also lead to malfunctions, impacting the overall performance of the appliance.
Symptoms of a bad main control board include:
- The refrigerator not cooling or freezing properly
- Unusual or erratic temperature fluctuations
- The refrigerator not responding to control settings
- The compressor or fans not running
- Error codes or lights flashing on the display panel
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Our refrigerator would not hold the correct/ default temperatures for the freezer and the refrigerator so we opted to replace the mother board Joan S. • Palm Harbor , FL • November 03, 2014
I am a 76 year old woman and hesitated to tackle the job. But my son sent me a Utube video "how to replace the board," and I was able to replace it, surprisingly, quite easily. I could have done it in a shorter period of time, if I had not been challenged with these arthritic hands and fingers.
The refrigerator is now holding the temperatures quite nicely.

Thanking APP ahead of time for expedient 1 day express parts & videos! I kept a LOG on this repair fix starting 6/21/20: started with cleaning out behind the Frigidaire /coils, fan blade, floor, walls, toe-plate, compressor. #1 Replaced just the Run Capacitor [from my local appl store]. Somewhat better but not a fix. Fridge controls need much higher settings than Factory Settings - which is recommended. Did some homework on several sites /kept coming back to yours / saw what parts are probably...
