Amana model afd2535deb freezer cold fridge too warm not defrosting Dan R. • Woodruff , SC • November 09, 2015
Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above. Obviously, the auto defrost cycle had not been running, or was short-cycling. Manually defrosted. Found this link for running diagnostic tests on the...

Ice Bucket was not dispensing ice Paul S. • Palmdale , CA • March 16, 2014
After seeing the extensive list/pictures of repair parts available on your web site and really not knowing what parts needed to be replaced, I decided that it would be easier just to order a complete Ice Bucket Assembly. It took longer to open the box than it did to install the new Ice Bucket. And delivery was really quick too, about 4 days from order to delivery...that is service defined. I'll be back for any future repairs on my other appliances.

GE GFE28GSKSS frig with ice maker in door no ice Frederick S. • Cumming , GA • October 19, 2019
Ordered valves and new ice maker. Couple sites mentioned problem could be ice in the waterline and to make sure temps be set to 37 in frig and 0 in freezer. I had adjusted temps to these the day I ordered parts. Parts arrived a couple of days later so I opened up the ice maker and found the ice bin to be full! Guess the temp adjustment worked. I just kept the parts for when they are needed.
For those unaware, access to the ice maker is really simple. There is a latch on the backside of the...

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Ice dispenser no longer worked properly Alan H. • Birmingham , AL • June 14, 2015
Initially I noticed the crusher drum was cracked and broken so I replaced the drum the retaining nut on the end of the auger and the circlip and washer. it worked fine for a time and then the drum began free wheeling. upon further inspection I discovered the retain nubs on the auger had worn down allowing the blade to slip down the auger body. so I replaced the auger, drum, drive blade, and drive cam. I recommend if you gave a problem with the ice dispenser you break down and inspect the entire...

Icemaker stopped working Patrick W. • Milwaukee , WI • September 10, 2016
After searching for information, the best guess was a defrost problem, so I first fully defrosted and reset the ice maker (this is the recommendation of Samsung and others on the net). This did not fix the problem.
Next best guess was water fill valve, but after removing ice maker from fridge, determined it had cubes in it but would not eject.
So, finally decided to order replacement ice maker. If you search the next for this model (DA97-13178A) there are instructions for removal of the ice...

I am a home owner with no technical experience on doing refrigerator failures diagnostic/repair. So, I look for internet DIY type of help describing the symptoms.
I found recommendations from Appliance Parts Pros going from the easy to the complex potential parts failures and decided to order the compressor start relay and the compressor overload.
While waiting for the overnight delivery, came to my mind and decided to look to the freezer compartment and found frost all along the coils panel....

The evaporator coil kept getting heavily frosted and the compressor ran almost continuously Reid D. • Santa Maria , CA • April 01, 2016
The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent,
The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. Discovered that the return air duct surrounding the control panel needed to come off. It helps...

Replaced defrost sensor in freezer compartment, if you are handy this is a do it yourself job. The cover in the freezer section just pops out not tools needed. You will need a few small zip ties and some cutters to remove the old zip ties. Take a picture were the old sensor was before removing and reinstall in the same place. I used a meter to check continuity of the defrost element and found the element to be ok. I was quoted $85 to have someone come to the house just to check the unit and...

Ice melting to a large clump and frost build up GE gss20ietdbb for years no parts were helping issue. Dustin M. • Charlotte , NC • January 07, 2023
My GSS20IETD BB side-by-side refrigerator had been having the ice form into a single mass over a period of a week after cleaning it out. It actually kept breaking my ice maker auger and pushing the slide-in tray or shelf over the ice maker up breaking it also. Frost would form all over food after about a couple of weeks. The ice auger motor would freeze up and stop turning. The coils did not have frost on them when I was able to view them. I replaced the thermistors in the freezer, defrost the...
