Took the back cover off, noticed the bolt holding the rotor on was broke off in the shaft which wore the stator and rotor. So I drilled out the broken bolt and extracted it with an easy out and replaced the stator the rotor and the bolt. Works great ! I maybe had 2 hours time in it and that includes taking it out of the laundry room and into the garage to work on it and back.

Took the chance that the $900 Control Module part was the real problem and replaced it. Problem solved. After the new Control Module was installed and working I opened the plastic clamshell surrounding the old Control Module which confirmed the faint electronics burning smell I had detected while running diagnostics.
