Lid Hinge Bearing
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP21258

The lid hinge bearing is used for the lid hinges on washers and dryers. When functioning properly, it allows the lid to open and close properly. If this is a problem with the bearing, it could make the lid difficult to move. In some cases, when the lid will not close, it means that the machine will not function correctly. Damaged lid hinge bearings should be replaced as soon as possible. The lid hinge bearings see a lot of work since they are in use whenever the lid of the washer or dryer opens and closes. They could become cracked and broken over time. Replacing the bearings is a relatively simple repair that owners can make on their own. This lid hinge bearing is for use with many models of washers and dryers from Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Inglis, Maytag, Admiral, Amana, Crosley, and Magic Chef. This is a genuine OEM replacement part that has been sourced from the manufacturer. The piece is sold individually, so if owners need to replace more than one hinge, they will need to buy multiples.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washing machine wouldn't spin   Alyne K. • Kaunakakai , HI • May 01, 2015

After looking at several YouTube videos, we decided we could attempt to fix this ourselves. We found the easiest video to follow from Appliance Parts, and ordered the clips and lid switch assembly (the clips we had to replace because we goofed that one ourselves). The parts came within a couple of days. The repair took a little over 1/2 hour only because we had to re-do some steps because my husband was over anxious and did some things without reviewing the video. Overall, it was a very... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No spin/agitate.   Daniel S. • Landenberg , PA • November 11, 2022

In the end, with a new coupler. But I relearned old lessons the hard way. The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant complained of no spin. My first intuition was that the coupler failed again because I bought a cheaper one elsewhere a couple of years ago and not the brand name available here at AppliancePartsPros. But we’ll come back to that. Lesson #1: Verify the symptoms firsthand. I dug in right away, popped out the motor and the coupler appeared okay. When I spun it by hand, it turned... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Agitator wasnt sloshing   Paige B. • Clarksville , TN • January 30, 2015

I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I was very proud of myself, as a woman, that I fixed this problem myself and didnt have to pay a repair... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Wife noticed water on the laundry room floor!   Richard L. • Phelps , NY • April 06, 2015

Removed cover from Whirlpool washer (~20 years old) and found water to be leaking from hose connection at Break Vac. Obviously the hose had to be replaced but the Break Vac looked corroded and partially plugged, too, possibly inhibiting water flow. While the cabinet was off I noticed the Suspension Spring was rusted off so I ordered 1 of those, too. Total of all parts was under $45 so looks like we won't be getting a newer, more efficient washer anytime soon. Everything arrived in 3 days and... Read more

Retainer Ring
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 285353

This retainer ring is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer for use on front load washing machines to hold the boot seal in place. The boot seal is the gasket that seals the washing machine when the door is closed to prevent water from leaking. The retainer ring is located flush against the boot seal and has either a spring clamp or screw clamp that secures it. Over time, this ring may become damaged due to the washing machine's normal use and age. If the ring is not tight, the washing machine could leak when in use. If water is coming from the door, it is a good idea to inspect and replace the retainer ring and possibly the boot as well.Unplug the washing machine to prevent electrocution. Remove the front panel, the detergent dispenser, and the kickplate to access the retainer ring. Locate the clamp on the ring and loosen it. Remove the retainer ring and set it to the side. Inspect the boot and then install the new retainer ring. Tighten the clamp and reassemble the washing machine. This retainer ring is sold as an individual unit. It is designed specifically for washing machines manufactured by Whirlpool.
