THIE REPAIR WAS ON A WHIRLPOOL TOP LOAD WASHING MACHINE At first I suspected the leak was from the pump because I had replaced the pump 2 times over 10 years. This time with the cabinet removed and filling the tub with water, I saw water running down one of the steel support arms that go under the tub, so I was guessing that it was coming from the tub seal. I had to use a jumper wire to bypass the Lid Switch so the water would drain. Several months before I had this issue with the water leaking... Read more

Loud rattling or loose agitator during wash? This clip secures the agitator assembly to eliminate noise and restore proper back-and-forth motion. Quick DIY fix.

Pulled dispenser and agitator and found the agitator washer hole was oval rather than round. Replaced the agitator washer and the washer seems to sound normally for now. Not sure if the new agitator washer will eventually grind down due to non-circular action from the transmission, or if the agitator and clip will keep the transmission centered long term. Should... The lid hinge bearing is used for the lid hinges on washers and dryers. When functioning properly, it allows the lid to open and close properly. If this is a problem with the bearing, it could make the lid difficult to move. In some cases, when the lid will not close, it means that the machine will not function correctly. Damaged lid hinge bearings should be replaced as soon as possible. The lid hinge bearings see a lot of work since they are in use whenever the lid of the washer or dryer opens and closes. They could become cracked and broken over time. Replacing the bearings is a relatively simple repair that owners can make on their own. This lid hinge bearing is for use with many models of washers and dryers from Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Inglis, Maytag, Admiral, Amana, Crosley, and Magic Chef. This is a genuine OEM replacement part that has been sourced from the manufacturer. The piece is sold individually, so if owners need to replace more than one hinge, they will need to buy multiples.

In the end, with a new coupler. But I relearned old lessons the hard way. The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant complained of no spin. My first intuition was that the coupler failed again because I bought a cheaper one elsewhere a couple of years ago and not the brand name available here at AppliancePartsPros. But we’ll come back to that. Lesson #1: Verify the symptoms firsthand. I dug in right away, popped out the motor and the coupler appeared okay. When I spun it by hand, it turned... Read more
