Moving to a propane home? Convert your natural gas dryer to LP with this orifice kit. Straightforward DIY process takes 1.5-2.5 hours with careful work.
I'm not an appliance mechanic and have never worked on a dryer before, but I have worked as an instrument technician and lightly dabbled in HVAC repairs. We moved from natural gas to a new home with propane, so purchased this kit to make the conversion. In my mind I thought it would be fairly quick and easy, change a few fittings, etc, but realized upon reading the instructions that I needed to disassemble most of the dryer. The work was straightforward but since this was my first time... Read more
Replace your cracked, broken, or missing dryer door handle. Mounts to the center of the dryer door for easy opening and closing during use.
Phillips head screwdriver. Unscrewed the door hinge from dryer. Removed/Unscrewed back of door panel and removed panel. Keep track of screws removed as there are two different types specific for reassembly. I unscrewed the glass panel frame which was held in place with "torx" head screws, which was not necessary. Separated back panel from front frame. Unscrewed broken door handle pieces. Replaced and screwed in place new door handle. Perfect fit. Replaced back panel to door frame and lined up... Read more

This is a felt seal strip that attaches to the front bulkhead panel of the dryer where the drum meets the front of the cabinet. It creates a soft barrier that prevents heated air from escaping and keeps clothing from getting caught between the drum and the panel. Replace this seal if your dryer is taking too long to dry clothes, you feel hot air leaking from the front, or you hear squeaking or scraping sounds as the drum turns.
First I watched videos about squeaking Kenmore dryers. Then I used that information to open the dryer, diagnosing the fact that the roller on the drum belt tension arm had broken and actually fallen off the arm. The dryer was filled with lint and dust/dirt, so I also saw that the seals on the dryer had deteriorated greatly. AppliancePartsPros website is outstanding, far better than its competitors. This made it easy to find the parts and videos that I needed. It took hours to pull everything... Read more
If your dryer won't stay lit or shuts off after a few minutes, the gas limiter may be faulty. This regulator controls safe gas flow to the burner.
Removed LP Orifice and LP Gas limiter. Orifice was easy, however the gas limiter was the tricky one because I had no instructions to what went where. I could not find anything online as to how to convert from LP to Natural Gas, but you could find several things as to how to convert from Natural to LP. I ended up finding the Dryer schematic on line for the Whirlpool Duet natural gas dryer and was able to figure out what sequence the Spring, regulator and limiter went in. The order I just... This screw is used to secure the handle end cap to the center of the door. The screw size measures 8-18 x 1/2 inches.
This was actually one of the easiest fixes I’ve done. All that was required was to remove 3 screws to remove the broken part. I used a pair of pliers to remove the moisture sensors from the broken part to the new one. Read more

Converting dryer from propane to natural gas? This orifice regulates gas flow in the burner assembly. Easy DIY fix, typically done in under 1 hour.
Confirmed parts needed through online chat with tech and followed video instructions for dryer conversion. Found a video online for range conversion. Replaced orifices for stove top and adjusted oven burner orifices and air shutters and inverted pin in pressure regulator to natural gas position. All went well with no problems, about an hour and a half to gather tools and complete both jobs. Probably could be done faster but I was taking my time. Read more

Converting dryer from LP to natural gas? This gas orifice regulates gas flow to the burner for proper heating. DIY-friendly swap, takes 20 minutes.
This complete valve system controls gas flow to your dryer's heating element, regulating flame size and heat output. It opens and closes automatically based on temperature settings and safety requirements. Replace if your dryer won't heat, overheats, or you smell gas during operation.
Unfortunately my first repair attempt (replacing the Gas Valve Coils) failed so I decided to replace the entire Burner assembly. From a cost/time point of view the Burner assembly is a better value than just buying the Gas Valve seeing as you don't have to disassemble/reassemble most of the existing Burner (to get to the Gas Valve) *and* you get a new Igniter!! The most annoying thing about the repair is accessing the screw that clamps the gas pipe to loosen it :-(... Read more
