Dryer won't heat or shows E64 error? High-limit thermostat cuts power if overheating occurs. Moderate DIY fix with our video guide and instructions.
My appliance repair guy checked out the problem, but the stack washer dryer required the contractor to dismantle the cabinet to allow the repair to occur. So i wanted the parts available for the repair, so we would not have to have the dryer pulled apart in a small space for an extended time i ordered the parts on Friday afternoon and they arrived at my home before noon on Saturday! The contractor and the repairman were able to coordinate the repair on Tuesday morning, and though the... Read more

Secondly, clean and inspect everything, make sure the motor bearing and belt pulleys are in good condition with little or no play. The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible. Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem. Next step was to... Read more

My 12 year old Frigidaire stack on top dryer had been beeping distress messages in some unintelligible code for about a year when it completely stopped producing heat. It also had a long standing issue with delicate fabrics and thin straps or drawstrings getting caught in the drum. Based on others' stories, I decided to also replace the rear... Read more

The very easy diagnosis was motor seizure. Because the machine is about a decade old, I decided to renovate most of the guts. My DIY project included replacing the motor, blower, drum bearing, belt, and door hinge. The end result is a functional dryer with no left-over parts. Lack of parts and hardware challenged the effort. For example, the blower assembly did not have the slide capture for the motor. I had to use the old one which is showing its age. With the exception of the drum... Read more
