• Freezer section too warm

I ordered the replacement gasket and...replaced it. One issue was that the replacement procedure was not at all like the video to which I was directed when I got the gasket. The video showed a gasket with a rigid flange that had to be inserted into the door structure. On my Amana, I clearly had to remove the inner plastic liner and set the gasket under it. My fridge was often reaching 60-70 degrees but would work well when motor/fans were running; it just wasn't cooling regularly. • Ice maker not making ice

We had a sears tech come out and "inspect" our freezer - he said it was one of the 2 vales behind the fridge that needed to be replaced. I found them for 50 bucks each on amazon... but then I thought I might shop around. Then i found this kit - that has the 2 valves AND the icemaker assembly for basically the same price. I went ahead and swapped out the icemaker assembly since it didn't involve getting behind the fridge. the next morning - BOOM ice. lots of ice. amazed. and happy. Read more

The cooling coils were iced-up. The ice was blocking air flow to the refrigerator. This resulted in the freezer working fine while the refrigerator was warm. Called AppliancePartsPros and talked to Sally. Sally was a big help in troubleshooting the problem. I ordered and replaced the cooling coil heater. If you attempt to do this repair yourself, BE CAREFUL, the cooling coil fins are sharp. Read more

After watching a few videos on this site and on You Tube it seemed like the most likely culprits were the starter and the capacitor. I found them easily behind the back panel near the compressor and easily unplugged them. I found the part numbers on this site and ordered them. After a 5 minute installation the compressor came back to life, and my 10 year old refrigerator has a new lease on life. Read more

Replaced the water tube that went from the plastic tubing to the ice cube tray. Found that even though it was the same exact length as the original, there was only an extremely small gap from the end of the tube to a splash board. This may have been the root cause of my problems. Read more

• Freezer not defrosting

I had had the same problem 4 or 5 years ago and spent close to $200 to repair it. I did have the slip from that repair with part #'s so I went ahead and ordered a defrost timer and thermostat. You-tube had plenty of videos on replacing those parts and even before they arrived I was able to add a switch and bypass the broken thermostat and start a cycle manually with the timer.
