This is a felt seal strip that attaches to the front bulkhead panel of the dryer where the drum meets the front of the cabinet. This screw is used to secure the handle end cap to the center of the door. The screw size measures 8-18 x 1/2 inches.

I read the FAQ section of Appliance Pros parts web site. I found out I needed to replace the temperature control switch, WPW10248240, to correct my problem. This switch also controls the tub filling water level based on air pressure via the attached vinyl tubing.
