Before buying a new ($1200) washer, I found the trouble shooting guide and decided to check if my problem was a simple fix or a complicated procedure... turns out it was the simple fix. Removing the agitator was the hardest part, it lifted straight up, but took some muscle and a belt for leverage. Then I had to remove one bolt, lift off the damaged part, and put the new part on with the one bolt. Done. Works perfectly. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The agitator drive plate had rusted through in a circle.   John R. • Ann Arbor , MI • March 02, 2021

The machine stopped working with a bang. There were chunks of large metal at the bottom. The drive plate had rusted through. My first step was to put a rag in the tub drain hole and save the pump. Except for grinding/chiseling off a frozen-corroded-rusty solid mass. The repair was rather easy. A couple of channel lock wrenches and a hammer didn't budge it. A monkey wrench will just round it off. You need that 1 11/6" wrench. The spindle nut was really stuck on there for my 14+ yo washer. I... Read more

My husband fixed it, he took out the leaky valve and replaced it with the new valve, which we received in the mail from your company, which was only a short time after we ordered it. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken fins on agitator   Annetta H. • Crane , MO • September 23, 2014

This was a fairly easy fix. The only problem I had was that the cover over the retaining nut was difficult to pull off. I changed to a larger pair of pliers and put a little more muscle to it and it popped right out. There was a little corrosion on the shaft that needed to scraped off for the new agitator to slide on easily but after that was gone the new part slid on and with some downward pressure it seated in. I removed the dial knob and plate as instructed by the video, removed the front panel of the washer to access the switch. I found the plastic molded bracket that the timer rests on to be broken and the tab on the timer where it is attached by a screw to be broken. I ordered a replacement switch, dial and knob. When it arrived I replaced the parts as instructed, but I had to use super glue to hold the new switch in place due to the support tab on the washer panel being broken off. After letting... Fix a washer that won't spin or agitate. This motor capacitor stores energy to start and run the motor. DIY repair takes about 10 minutes with video help.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Hotpoint vlsr1090g5ww wouldn't agitate or spin.   Chuck G. • Douglas , MI • October 03, 2022

Washer would run through the cycle, but not agitate. I had to wait for it to pump down the water level to check spin, which also was not working. The motor would buzz when it should run, but not rotate, hard to hear for spin because the pump was running. Found I could start it by hand very easily by giving the pulley a spin, so I figured start switch, but there didn't appear to be one. I found what looked like a start capacitor zip tied to the chassis midway up the front, so my second guess was... Read more
