Oven not heating or display not responding? This electronic control board manages temperature, timing, and keypad functions. Moderate DIY repair.
My 15 year old son and I examined the new parts and made a plan for how we were going to take the front off of the oven. Turns out it was fairly simple. We removed the knobs, the knob shrouds, two philip screws on the side of the head and about 6, 6mm hex sheet screws. Voila! It came apart. We carefully looked at how the old parts were assembled and simply reversed the assembly with the new parts. Since one of our parts was the entire front head, it went together quickly and it was a perfect... Read more

Fix burners that won't light or spark intermittently with a new surface burner igniter. Most DIYers complete this repair in 20 minutes with basic tools.
I disassembled the top of the range and looked at the problem burner. It looked like there was a spark at all three other burners but not the problem burner. There was a visible spark at the connector between the wiring harness and the ceramic igniter but that spark wasn't making it up to the top of the igniter where it can light the burner. I ordered a new igniter for $19 and it was on my doorstep the next day. I replaced the part and now my wife thinks I am a genius. Don't tell her that... Read more

I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more

This 10-32 terminal block nut fastens wire lugs to the appliance's terminal studs. Replacing a missing, stripped, or corroded nut restores a tight, reliable connection and helps prevent heat damage or intermittent power at the connection.
The oven temperature was low and the heating time excessive. However, the range display showed the requested 400F, even though the oven was really 250F. Because the oven displayed an inaccurate temperature, I ordered an oven sensor, a heating element, and a terminal block. Replacing the heating element fixed the problem. The element I received was the same shape and size, but the supports were not the same. However, I think it must have been a design change after mine was manufactured... Read more

Fixes ovens that won't heat or show F8/F9 error codes. This relay switches power to heating elements and fans. Moderate DIY repair with multimeter.
I first tested and replaced the temperature sensor. Since this is a slide-in range, I managed to pull it out just enough to access the back without disconnecting the downdraft and gas line. (For wall models this would not be the case.) Unfortunately, that did not do it. Next I replaced the lower heating element because it was a little below the ohms level it should be at. No go. So far, both of these were pretty easy to do and were relatively inexpensive so I wasn't too frustrated. Then I... Read more
