Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Door clicking, door not closing easily   Mike K. • Broadview Heights , OH • January 27, 2020

Replaced both sets of door cams on my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator. The most important thing to know is that you DO NOT have to remove the doors from the refrigerator to replace BOTH sets of cams. You just have to remove the lower grill which is a snap fit (I also turned off the water and unplugged the unit). My fridge has an ice and water dispenser where the water and electrical lines go through the cams on the left side. Be sure to order the correct parts as the cam holes on the freezer side... Replaced the 2 parts that had broken (due to the wrong plastic selection by Kenmore IMO. The motor needed to be re-clocked but this video https://youtu.be/QK8C8rxbkhc gave the information needed. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water dispenser was no longer working   Kelly W. • Houston , TX • January 24, 2017

After being told by a service repairman that it would cost me close to $200 to repair, I resolved to just not use the dispenser. After about a year, I had decided that I wanted to repair it and would look at the options myself. At the least, I could figure out which parts were needed to repair it and have them on hand for a service guy if I determined I could not do the job myself. The more I studied it, the more I felt confident that I could do it, and sure enough, when the part arrived - a... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Whirlpool wtw5000dw1 top loader door would not lock, spin cycle would not function   John C. • Cornelia , GA • December 24, 2021

Replaced door latch and switch. Parts are plastic so you must know what you are doing to avoid breaking new parts. Videos were hard to find for my model - eventually I found a video that addressed a different problem but required disassembly of a washer cabinet similar to mine. I removed the control panel using a putty knife and unplugged the wire to the latch switch. Then I remove 3 screws securing the washer's top panel to the back panel. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice would not dispense   Gary A. • Chula Vista , CA • August 21, 2020

Found bad auger motor drive shaft, it was rounded on the end that goes into motor. While I was there I replaced the seal, auger (old one rusty) and coupler. The new auger is stainless steel (I believe and slightly longer) and should not corrode like old white one. If changing auger, make sure you put the assembly back together correctly (take a few pics of the old one and lay it out as taken apart). As always, parts arrived quickly. Read more
