I have a Whirlpool Side-by-side Model ED22PWXBW01. A year ago, the ice cubes started freezing together in the rear of the ice bin for no apparent reason. Well with a lot of help from the world wide web and my friends from AppliancePartsPros.com, I was able to determine the source of the problem, which was the defrost thermostat. However, due to the disassembly involved to get to it, I decide to also change a couple of other parts involved in the defrost process, which are also located in the same compartment as the defrost thermostat. The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. The video was very helpful, but my KitchenAid model required slightly more steps. Only the two screws in front held the filter housing, same as the video shows, but it has to be removed from the rear.
