This is a small coupling washer that connects the ice crusher drive mechanism in the refrigerator's freezer compartment. It transfers rotational force from the motor to the ice crushing blades, allowing the dispenser to crush ice properly. First I did the obvious: Changed the evaporator fan motor and condenser fan motor. Then I realized there was too little air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator, so I replaced the air baffle assembly. Now everything works again. Ice won't dispense or comes out slowly? A worn or stripped ice auger is often the culprit. This repair restores smooth dispensing in 30-45 minutes.
Found bad auger motor drive shaft, it was rounded on the end that goes into motor. While I was there I replaced the seal, auger (old one rusty) and coupler. The new auger is stainless steel (I believe and slightly longer) and should not corrode like old white one. If changing auger, make sure you put the assembly back together correctly (take a few pics of the old one and lay it out as taken apart). As always, parts arrived quickly. Read more
This is a rubber gasket that seals the connection between the water fill tube and the ice maker assembly inside the freezer compartment. It prevents water from leaking around the fill tube during the ice maker's fill cycle. Replace this gasket if you notice water dripping or ice buildup around the fill tube area, or if water is leaking onto the freezer floor during ice production.
