This is a rubber gasket that seals the connection between the water fill tube and the ice maker assembly inside the freezer compartment. It prevents water from leaking around the fill tube during the ice maker's fill cycle. Replace this gasket if you notice water dripping or ice buildup around the fill tube area, or if water is leaking onto the freezer floor during ice production.

If your refrigerator isn't staying at the right temperature or runs too warm, the thermistor may have failed. This sensor monitors compartment temps.
First I did the obvious: Changed the evaporator fan motor and condenser fan motor. Then I realized there was too little air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator, so I replaced the air baffle assembly. Now everything works again. This should have been a piece of cake, but in the 48" Kitchenaid side-by-side built-in, the baffle assembly is mounted on the side wall of the refrigerator rather than the back wall as the video showed. The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. Ice won't dispense or comes out slowly? A worn or stripped ice auger is often the culprit. This repair restores smooth dispensing in 30-45 minutes.
Found bad auger motor drive shaft, it was rounded on the end that goes into motor. While I was there I replaced the seal, auger (old one rusty) and coupler. The new auger is stainless steel (I believe and slightly longer) and should not corrode like old white one. If changing auger, make sure you put the assembly back together correctly (take a few pics of the old one and lay it out as taken apart). As always, parts arrived quickly. Read more
