This was some repair! My SG1000 stackable is over 30 years old and was purchased second hand. I've replaced many parts in the dryer section, but besides a water inlet, this was my first repair to the washer. All of a sudden it started making a terrible noise and was not agitating the clothes. The spin cycle worked fine. I first replaced the two belts on the bottom, but when I removed the old ones I realized they did not look terribly worn and weren't the cause. Many stories on here indicated... Read more

Fix a washer that won't advance through cycles or skips cycles. This timer controls cycle duration and electrical components. DIY-friendly repair.
First I checked the continuity of the lid check switch. I found a video for that on You Tube. The lid check swithch was OK. So from looking at some You Tube videos and comments on Appliance Parts Pros it seemed like it must be the timer. So I ordered a new timer and also a new lid check switch since that was an inexpensive part. There was no video on Appliance Parts Pros for my model number on how to replace the timer. I found something somewhat close on You Tube. It was quite easy. To take... Read more

I cannot believe this machine still runs. APP has sold me repair parts for this unit now 3 times. First I wanted to replace the old belts. They still worked but was more a preventative thing. Next was a water control valve a few years ago. This time I noticed a leak near the valve again. I decided to buy a new valve and also replace all the rubber hoses that were 35 years old. The repair took about 3 hours. 1.5 to remove the old parts and do a cleaning that was greatly needed. 0.5 hours to... Read more

Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. Long and short the replacement parts fit perfectly and the washer is running like new. Special thanks to the online support make my repair possible. Read more
