Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling and the beeping alarm that indicates a door is not closed all the way was beeping   Carla P. • Keller , TX • July 14, 2015

The alarm beeped for two days before I figured out that the light switch in the freezer was the problem. The light bulb- I thought - had burned out a long time ago, but it was actually frozen to where the light just would not come on. Apparently the freezer door had been left open long enough to thaw out the switch and now the light was working. Problem was that now it wasn't turning off even when the door closed. This was telling the unit that the door was open, hence the continuous... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You LG french door refrigerator lights failed   Phil M. • Santa Cruz , CA • November 06, 2019

So I read a number of the earlier posts regarding the required repairs and went forward with all those repairs. In short, I replaced the wiring harness, door switches, and bulbs. The problem still persisted so I went ahead and replaced the control board. That did the trick. So for my unit, LG LFX25960ST replacing all those components were required. All repairs were easy and the videos and posts are all helpful. Read more

Lg Water Filter
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 5231JA2006A

This is a water filter intended for use with LG refrigerators. It is used in tandem with the water dispenser on the refrigerator door to purify drinking water. Replacing thee water filter every six months on average is recommended. It is necessary to swap out every year at a minimum, depending on how frequently it is used.Indications that the water filter needs to be switched include water with unusual odors or tastes. The components used to filter the water will stop working, allowing contaminants that could be dangerous to break off and enter the drinking water. Replacement of the LG water filter is simple. Remove the old filter and screw the new one into place in just a few seconds. This LG water filter is a genuine OEM replacement part. It is sold individually. The LG water filter comes sourced directly from the manufacturer and is made of high-quality, durable materials. The LG water filter is only compatible with LG brand refrigerators.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg water filter head would not engage   Henry W. • Hoffman Estates , IL • September 08, 2015

I have replaced the LG water filter myself for the past 10 years. This time I inserted the filter, did not feel the thread was engaged, I turned the filter clockwise and no water came through the filter. So I figured that the filter head might be bad. I checked with YouTube and learned that to replace the filter head one just have to remove the housing or head, remove the water inline and outline and put it back. I used Google to search "LG water filter housing" (I did not know yet it was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The ice maker was not making ice but water was being dispensed by the water dispenser   John V. • Belfair , WA • August 08, 2014

Simple, did some research via "Google". Typed in the model and make of the unit, typed in the problem and the search results led me to a "youtube" video of what my problem could be. Additional searches confirmed my suspicions, I ordered the part which arrived a few day's later, installed it and now we are making ice. The biggest part of the job was cleaning years of stuff behind the fridge. Almost found enough change to pay for the part. John Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My LG refrigerator ice maker was leaking water inside the ice maker cavity in the left side door in addition I was getting moisture around the ice door seal and the cold air ducts   James W. • Seal Beach , CA • October 20, 2018

I replaced the ice maker assembly, which included the motor and electronics. I also replaced the door seal and the input cold air duct seals. The ice maker is mounted with only 2 philips screws, so it is easy to remove. The most difficult part is the harness, specifically the ground screw. The issue is that the wire is short and you need to turn the unit in order to get a screwdriver in. It would help to have a short screwdriver, but I was, finally, able to remove it with the full length... Read more
